I'm looking to replace the hammer spring and rebound trigger spring. What kit do you recommend? Wolff? Wilson Combat?

Call S&W Customer Service 800-331-0852 and they will take the part order. Then with a fresh original mainspring in the gun you can adjust the strain screw according to the S&W Armorers manual to the minimum weight listed. Using these numbers from S&W I have never experienced a failure to fire and it gives a really nice trigger. Gets even better with some careful polishing. That's for the mainspring. For the rebound spring it all depends on the service you require from the revolver. For my "range only" guns I use a 13lb. Wolff spring but for any other service I leave the rebound spring alone for a good firm trigger return. Instructions below.

I'll be direct .

For DA Revolver , smoothness and consistency is more important than low poundage for its own sake . If the trigger is difficult to shoot , it's probably an internal smoothness issue , not a spring issue .

A smooth 10-12lb DA pull is the goal ( other than pure competition only guns) . If a smooth 10-12 lb is causing shooting problems , it's more of shooter issue .

I have only ever used Wolff kits, but some people don't like the tink sound the power rib mainspring makes.

Go full power in whatever you decide. A lower power mainspring can result in light firing pin strikes.

If you go any lower than 13 pounds on the rebound spring, you will have a noticeably slower action. The lower the spring power, the slower the action. You just notice when you go lower than 13 pounds.
