Better call Saul

Breaking Bad is my favorite dramatic series of all time, only slightly ahead of The Sopranos. I've followed it from the series premier, and watched in its entirety several times. BCS is excellent, and will no doubt join those other two on my favorites list.

They planned it well. They can show us Saul Goodman up to the point that he meets Walt and Jesse, and they can pick it up later showing us what happens after managing the Cinnabon.

Resisted BB till I learned AMC was airing the entire series all at once. I DVRd everything but maybe the first couple of episodes. Came in at Elliot's birthday party. Still don't know why Walt and Jesse formed their partnership. As far as BCS I am not going to miss any. They have me. Glad to see more of Mike. Hope to see Badger and Skinny Pete reappear.

Also hooked on Hell on Wheels and Justified. Hate that they are both ending.

Tucco is there so Turtle can't be far behind. Except, well, he is a turtle after all.

Never come in on one of these series in the middle, otherwise things get muddled. ;)

Watched the first episode of BCS last might, excellent.

Vince Gilligan is a genius.

What, no more Hell on Wheels? :(

I tried to get interested in that first episode but it couldn't keep my interest. I love zombie shows - and watched TWD since Episode 1 first aired - got bored with it Sunday night before BCS. Maybe it's me?

I liked Glades - loved Longmire. Both gone (Supposedly, Longmire will have a season four on Netflix.). Really enjoyed Unforgettable. They - and another of my favorites, ending shortly, is The Mentalist - all have a common thread - Australian lead actors. Gotta be a conspiracy against Oz-folk. Actually, Unforgettable was canned twice by the networks - may get a third chance as I think A&E has picked them up for 13 more episodes. I hope... Australian Poppy Montgomery is cute! She was on Without a Trace for years - opposite Anthony LaPaglia - who is also an Aussie (I told you... it's a conspiracy!).

For weird... there is always Sci Fi channel's Haven. I watch too much TV. I told my son I wouldn't watch BB after seeing a few minutes - he insisted I'd like Prime feeds of The Wire. Good grief... pretty intense - I'm nearly done with Season 3... I really watch too much TV - and need to get out to the range...

Anybody know why he's Jimmy and not Saul? Confused!

James (Jimmy) Magill is his real name. He is fighting a law firm that has the same name as one of the partners. The firm suggests that he change his name. They haven't said why he changes it yet but it probably has something to do with when his law practice finally takes off. As he said, at this point he's "just trying not to starve to death."

In BB, he tells Walt that he's really Irish, but as a lawyer, needed a nice Jewish name!

The sleazebag lawyer was my favorite character in breaking bad, so I was please to see this spinoff materialize. So far I've not been disappointed. This could turn out to be as good, dare I say it?

Saul Goodman is a pseudonym he probably picks up. I gather you missed the part where the guy (chuck I believe his name was) says he thinks he should use a different name, so as to not have the affiliation with this other company. There's still a lot unclear, but I believe the change in name will be part of the evolution process of the lawyer he becomes.

I havent heard much about it but I will have to check it out.It looks pretty good.

First of all, I never watched Breaking Bad..I watched Saul, episodes 1 and 2 last night, available on demand..The opening of episode 1 lost me..Episode 2 was pretty good..I don't think I have ever seen so many commercials..Thank goodness I was able to fast forward thru them..:)

Prequel to Breaking Bad focused on Saul and all the characters a shady lawyer gets mixed up with. What's not to like?

So far it hasn't built a compelling What's Next story line, but I'm interested enough to watch a few more. Just bringing back characters from BB isn't enough.

I too have been a real fan of Breaking Bad and the Walking Dead. I also was a big fan of the Sopranos. There is really some great drama on TV these days, almost all of it on other than the "major" networks. Not to hijack the thread, but some other series that were/are truly outstanding, and available on DVD or On Demand (if you are a COMCAST customer) that are certainly worth going back to the beginning episode and watching include Homeland and The Wire. At one time I would have included Sons of Anarchy, a series I really wanted to like, in part because motorcycling is a big part of my life, but the series became overly violent and almost silly so I gave up on it sometime during the second season.

You recognize Chuck, don't you? Michael McKean, who played Lenny on Laverne & Shirley. One of the most active actors in Hollywood.
