Big Hands what grip to use?

I talked to a person who has shot a revolver in competition for nearly 30 years and in our talkings he caught on that i have never been comfortable in shooting because of not having the correct grip to size up to my big coal miner hands. He said that my strong Rh hand over powers the grip i use on my l frame smith. My grip is the hogue mono conv. rubber fingerless rd butt to sq butt #19012 which i got from midway.
I need to find a company that makes grips for my large hand long big fingers that would have a larger grip in thickness to allow my hand to wrap back some to allow my fingers to fall correctly in place for my style of shooting which will be steel plate shoots.Its a lot to say any opinions welcome!

You might look into Herrett's Jordan style grips. They will want a trace of your hand and will work from there.

The biggest grips for the s&w N Frames I found so far were the rose wood grips from Thailand. I went through quite a few different brands till I found the largest grips. I'm not sure what grips will interchange with the different frames.
The herret grip company made grips to match my hand for my ruger security six. You draw your hand on a piece of paper and send it to them.
It's custom made grips to the size of your hand. They do fit my hand perfectly.

For folks without "Average" size hands , no one will be able to tell you which grips to buy, you must try them yourself.

I am very fond of the Hogue wood grips. I order mine without finger grooves since the grooves fall in the wrong place to fit my big paws.

These have a bit of a palm swell to better fill the hand.

If there is nothing off the shelf that fits you, there are many companies that will produce a custom grip from a tracing of your hand. These grips will set you back $225+ to have made.

If you have no bias against rubber grips, the Pachmayr Decelerator is about as big in circumference as they come - it has a fully padded backstrap and is wide in the front of the grip frame also.

The Pach Presentation is pretty beefy too, or seems so to my medium-large mitts.

I had not been thinking rubber, but the Presentation grips used to be shipped in a L and S size.

+1 for the Herrett's Jordan Trooper stocks. Covered back strap, and based on the size of your hand from a pattern you send them.Excellent fit and finish. Good customer service, as well.

I have big hands as well. The custom Herrets and Pachmayrs are good choices. I had a couple sets of the Herret N frame Jordans made back in the 1980's, and they were very well made, and fit my hand like a glove. Another is to get an old set of football target grips, and do a little wood work on them to fit your hand. I have done a couple like that, and it usually involves leaving the top of the grips stock, then slightly reducing the diameter of the lower / butt area.

S&W makes very large grips with excellent recoil control for their big 460 and 500 magnums. The X-frames have the same grip size as the K and L frames, and those grips make great "large hand" grips for the smaller frames.

The Diamond Pro by Pachmayr has a lot of palm swell, that may do the trick for you.

I am a recent purchased a 460XVR and have the same problem as you. My hands are not big , but the oem grip is just too short for a secure two hand grip. I did a lot of research and didn't come up with many options. I ended up ordering a pair of Hogue "Big Butt" grips.

I too have large hands and these Ahrends grips on my L frame 686 fit my hand well.

Look for an old set of S&W target grips and mess with them a bit. I don't have huge hands but I can palm a basketball. I've tried different ones, but come back to the targets. I take that sharp edge off the bottom and they work very well for me. Ebay often has dinged ones for cheap. Kurac has largish grips, buy a set of unfinished ones and work 'em to what you want. He's a great guy to deal with.

One thing about the pachmeyer rubber presentation grips is I have a really powerful grip from logging. I can squeeze my fingers into the rubber grips for a firm hold.
