Well, I ordered another Model 500 in the end of Dec under the military sales offer.
It has been strange to say the least. First of all there was a guy in Alaska with the same last name who ordered the exact same gun and whose FFL was the same name! S&W told me that they had another pair of orders whose first and last names were identical.
Then they misplaced my paperwork. Then, embarrassed, they expedited the order or so I am told. Well, last Thursday, they said that the order would be shipped that afternoon or Friday. I called today and found that they shipped my gun to a gunshop with the same name as my FFL but it was in Escondido, CA and I live in Albuquerque, NM!!!
S&W said "I guess you're probably disgusted with us by now?" I said yes, they said "we don't blame you."
Well, they contacted the CA dealer and faxed FedEx paperwork to them and he said he was giving the gun to the FedEx driver that afternoon. What an ordeal. Ought to get it in time to go to the range with it on Wed as the weather is predicted to be nice for a change. Don
