Naw, all I ever had was a 100 watt, ran a Hi gain Super Penetrator on the roof with a Cobra 142 GTL and a Astatic lolypop.
I could clear the air for 40 miles on 6 channels with the bleedover.
Ahhh the good old days.
grizzly bear for me KABA1936...i still have a cobra 148 gtl and astatic hand mike in the truck...use it all the time on the road...i have avoided MANY wrecks etc.by communicating with the truckers..have passed many a boring mile chatting on it...yup...i was a part of the big CB craze in the 70's...it's still popular in this area...more often though these days i'm on my yaesu base station as i have my ham license...talked to a number of stations today in europe,s.america, germany, england, and sev.western states....
73's !
Wow, I haven't been on the CB for over twenty years. Back in the day we had a 1/4 wave antenna on the house with a Johnson Messenger base station and a Cobra 29LTD Single Side-Band in the car. Hawkeye, KZR-4912 over.
Had a CB a few years back in the big truck. It wound up near useless. Some folks (I have other names for them) would play bad music, whistle or say their names repeating over and over and over again. Of course they had high powered equipment and you cannot get anything else.
One "person" sticks in my mind, it was the midnight cowboy. It would go like this, I am the midnight midnight midnight midnight midnight midnight midnight midnight midnight midnight (this for five minuets or so) cowboyyy, (then take it from the top) I am the midnight midnight midnight....
I just wanted to know if the bridge is backed up so I could take a different route. Instead Id get this insanity
