You can, with some patience and a gray (only) Scotchbrite pad...Who else can restore the factory brushed finish to make it look new ?
Too messy, and hard to track the results as you work...Spray 'em down with non-chlorinated brake cleaner after the desired results have been attained to get rid of any metal residue, lube the dry mechanical parts that need it and wax with Renwax...Are you guys using oil with the gray scotch brite ?

I recently acquired brushed SS 686-3 4” , S&W not taking any refinishing/ polishing jobs at this time . Who else can restore the factory brushed finish to make it look new ? I like to have it done professionally. Thanks

I asked the same question and the results were the same, scotch brite pads.Does any one know who refinishes SS revolvers professionally is what we need to know not how to do it
Before and after of the gray scotch-brite treatment on a 65. Go with the metal grain. Front and back on frame and barrel, around on the cylinder. You can do it easy-peasy. The gray is gentle so don't fear damaging the piece.
If you don't want to do it yourself and really want a factory style refinish, I'd say you should contact S&W.
