I think it was the remington sub-sonic 38gr hollow point that the walmart in my town carries in 500 round boxes. I've personally shot about 100 rounds of it through my 15-22 without a hiccup. Granted 100/100 rounds doesn't really qualify as reliable as far as 22lr ammo goes, but it was good enough that its my go to ammo for when I want something subsonic.

CCI subsonic hollow points have been the most reliable for me in all of my rifles and pistols, followed by Remington subs.
I have not found either locally in bulk.

I have shot about hundred of the 60gr Aguila SSS rounds, without any issues and surprisingly good accuracy (indoor range @ 16 meters). I am thinking about picking up some more and seeing how far I can push the accuracy before performance drops or keyholing (sp?) begins.

I know you can get it in 500 bricks for around $40+, but I don't think that is truly considered bulk.

I have also shot some of the Remington Sub-Sonic rounds and didn't have any problems.

Here is my stats for 10 shots @ 50 yards.
--------------------------------------------
REMINGTON 22 SUBSONIC
Average 970
Standard Dev 59
Extreme Spread 178

Accuracy:
10/10 = 2.01
9/10 = 1.99

The Rem subsonic at Walmart has run flawlessly in mine but I have the added back pressure from the suppressor on the end also.

Morning nathantc

Due to my shooting range outback of my house I pretty well use subsonic ammo for most of my major shooting if possible just to not cause problems with my neighbors.

I have found that CCI standards are subsonic from all my rifles & pistols as long as the ambient temperatures are above 30°f or so. And all but 1 or 2 out of a couple of hundred stay subsonic at above 15°f. Below 0° I will a get few per magazine to go transonic or supersonic in a 16" barrel but they stay subsonic in all my pistols & in 20" -22" barrel rifles.

They shoot pretty good groups for non target ammo & out of a 500 round brick I seldom if ever get any FTF. I shoot a brick or two a week & sometimes go a couple of weeks without a FTF using the CCI standards.

Try the CCI standard in your gun (IF) you can find them (try Dicks Sporting Goods) if you have any around you (about $25.00 a brick)

just tried wal-mart remington subsonic,,,, lots of fail to fire and missfeeds bummer,,,, that and no two shots sounded the same and it seemed louder for the shooter than standard ammo,,, odd

Like Wolverine said -- CCI Standard Velocity. $25/500 Dick's Sporting Goods.

whatever you do don't use winchester super x subsonics. i had nasty issues with my rifle double/tripple tapping, and it's ONLY with that specific ammo.

I recently had two boxes of Rem subs that I had feed and fire issues with. Both boxes had same lot numbers on them so I'm sure it was the ammo.

Most people will not hear a major difference in shooting subsonic rounds and sonic rounds without a suppressor.... if that is what you are trying to do Nathantc. I don't know whether you own one or not.

The standard velocity CCI ammo(solid round nose) will usually stay subsonic but the SubSonic CCI come in hollow points and they make one SICK sound(cross between a THUD and SLAP)...... when lead hits varmit!

Nothing like the sound of a round thudding against a Hog without a loud report (Ruger M77/44 mag suppressed.) Even turtles kinda look around like "whats going on, why did you fall off the log and whats that stuff running out of you man." Sorry slightly off topic. Back to the regular scheduled program.

Keyholing can start as early as 25-35 yards from what I have heard.

Generally the most accurate cheap ammo that is subsonic in velocity, according to tests reports is CCI Standard Velocity. You can get 500 rd bricks at Dick's SG for $25. Short of Eley or Lapua match ammo it shoots surprisingly tight groups, tighter than most any other ammo in its speed range. See the rimfire ammo test at AccurateReloading.com. They tested 55 brands of ammo using a Bleiker match rifle w/barrel tuner to see what they could get at 50, 75, and 100 yards.

What is the twist rate in the MP 15-22? If you are using a suppressor, and using the Aguila 60 grain sub-sonic, be sure it is 1:9 for stabilization reasons. The last thing you want is a wobbling 60 grain projectile trying to make it through a suppressor without worrying about it taking out a section of your suppressor on the way through.

The twist rate out of the 16" barrel according to Smith & Wesson is 1:16 but measured shows a 1:15 twist rate.
