guys, i don't wanna be insensitive. i'm sorry for all the people hurt by a crazy person.
crazier than most because he wasn't even attacking a specific group, just a bunch of american kids..
but, on the thread talking about this ''bump fire'' keeps coming up.
what is that?
i hear it's legal, but i thot i heard full auto fire on the news reports.
i know that's illegal, but i heard this is legal?
i guess everybody but me knows about this, so please explain it to me.

From what I know it's an external device uses the recoil from the rifle to make your trigger pull much faster. It does not turn a semi auto into a fully automatic rifle. Your firearm still fires with each pull of the trigger. To me I don't want to shoot $100 worth of ammo in two minutes but friends of mine have them and say that it's rate of fire is quite close to fully automatic.

IMHO from what I'm hearing it's only a matter of time before it's declared illegal. Remember the people that want your guns will try to get them incrementally if they can't get them at once.

First, full auto is not illegal. It's just heavily regulated.

Bump firing is a technique of loosely holding the gun so it can recoil back against you, then bump off you forward to your stiff trigger finger. This makes it fire, recoil back, bump forward off you, fire, recoil back, etc etc etc.

So it shoots real fast, sounding like a machine gun, and makes wannabes feel cool.

Not real sure how the bumpfire stock works, but it has to be similar.

thanks, dawg is the reason not to own one just ammo cost?
could i do it with a 22lr?
alpo, i'm not seeing the like button on your post. sorry, but i do apprieciate your post.

Basically, its a toy and a good way to waste ammo. It only worked in Las Vegas because the target was so big.
Pretty much any semi-auto rifle can be bump fired if you know the technique even without a bump fire stock. The special stock just makes it easier.

Yeah never saw much use for one. If I wanted to go that route I would just get a new binary trigger system. 2 shots per pull and release of the trigger. Would be a lot more accurate then bump firing a rifle I would think. I've never used a bump fire stock l, but was doing it 15 years ago with just a regular AK. Maybe the bump fire stock is more accurate, but I think the binary trigger system would still give you more consistency in hitting a target. Either way not much interest to me. I would rather be accurate then spray and pray. To expensive for me!!

thanks, guys. those things are too expensive for me, plus, they won't work for 22lr.
i guess i'd like to shoot one once, but i don't wanna own one.
some of you know i'm just into PRECISION shooting, so, even if i got one cheap i'd get bored pretty quick.
icouldn't afford the ammo anyway. i have to ration my handgun ammo.
by the way, i coulda just looked this up on the net, but i just trust what i learn here more.
i like to ''like'' posts that answer my questions, but i'm not finding the like button any more.
sorry.

Kinda splittin' hairs or arguing semantics, aren't you...aka nitpicking.:D

It's two shots with one pull of the trigger. If that isn't a two-shot burst, I don't know what is.

I'm just quoting what is advertised. I had to look it up. By law I guess it's technically a semi auto. One pull, one shot. Nothing is ever mentioned about one release, one shot. The law is per trigger PULL

oooh, that binary thing works with 22lr!
of course it's still pricey because i'd have to buy the AR to go with it, but still....
two 22lr rounds don't cost near as much as one 38spc, that i shoot all the time.
oh! i just got my like buttons back .
i wonder how i lost them?

I guess that's why I'm a bolt thrower, I collect old Mausers. I stay at the range for a while and still have money in my wallet when I leave.

i gotta decide if i wanna spend years learning about black rifles. i know the got uppers n lowers n other strange stuff.
my only rifle is my first gun. it has a stock n a barrel n a trigger assembly, like a real gun.

Saw a BF stock for sale at the last gun show I went to..150 bucks I think and still no takers. A friend has one and I did shoot it..even reloading it shoots too much... even for him. Told me he took it off the rifle. All his friends wanted to shoot it..if he supplied the ammo

One fallacy about the Slide Fire stock is that it will INSTANTLY turn your gun into full auto. There is a learning curve. It takes practice. But once you get the hang of it, it's like riding a bike.

I tried a few times but couldn't get it to work well. Probably because I wasn't interested in burning up so much ammo.

The following video is a friend of mine. It illustrates just how fast you can burn through 100 rounds. But again, he had a lot of practice.
