I'm about to give up on gunbot.
I've been trying to feed my M&P 22 by calling Walmart everyday and checking if they got any .22lr in stock. I also keep gunbot.net open all the time and try to get deals that way.
The past five times I've seen something on gunbot.net or in the "official in stock thread" on this forum, I haven't been able to purchase.
Blazer .22 has popped up on the in stock thread several times, and I can put it in my cart on the website, but Cabelas requires you to call in ammo orders for Illinois instead of buying on the website. Whenever I call they say that they don't really have it in stock. They say that it just popped up on the website because an order came in to go to the stores. This has happened three times with Cabelas.
Ammo.com had some Remington buckets last week and I got to the website in time to get one in my cart and I go to checkout all excited..... Nope, no sales to Illinois, period. Never mind that I'm not in Cook county.
Just now, MidwayUSA had Aguila .22 in and I made it to the site in time to put it in my cart, but I couldn't proceed with the order until they had my FOID on file. I called customer service to see if I could place the order and email them the FOID before they shipped, but they can't do that either.
I guess I need to run around to every site on gunbot and give them my FOID card just in case they get ammo in at some point? When I ordered 9mm from Freedom Munitions, I placed the order and paid for it, and then they sent instructions on where to email my FOID. That's fine with me, at least they let me order first. I guess I thought most places would be like that, but it doesn't seem so.
I wonder how many more websites won't let you buy at all in Illinois? I understand having to verify the FOID, but if I have to wait 24 hours to verify, then the ammo is already sold out, so at least let me place the order first.
On the plus side for Illinois, there seem to be less ammo flippers at Walmart. Since you have to have a FOID to buy, and it's been taking people months to get the card, there are fewer opportunists buying up the .22lr and it leaves more for the shooters.
Any other Illinois folks care to weigh in? I guess I could have it worse, I could live in Chicago!
