Captain America was a Nazi all along

And in six months it'll change and he'll not be one....

I'm a sci-fi fan and all but I've moved away from American comics because of this, they have to keep it going as these heroes never die/change so they become paper soap operas.

Manga (Japanese comics) are a whole lot better, the few American comics I follow are Deadpool, and Hellboy.

It costs nothing.....

It costs nothing to make up these plot twists. After 50 years of stories they can come up with anything and either blend the story in another direction, put it back the way it was with a "What it REALLY, really was was a ploy", make the character an 'anti' hero or never explain it and let people wonder.

I haven't been into comics since they started printing them in dark blue and black. If it's not colors inked on pulp paper that you can lift off with Silly Putty, it ain't no comic.

I was never a comic book fan, yes I read a few but even when young I preferred Outdoor Life or Boys Life.

I did send off a few quarters for foreign coins and stamps form comic ads.

I had the following interests when young, Marbles, Baseball, fishing and hunting. Buy a comic book or save a little more and get a box of Revelation 22 LR's at Western Auto, HMM, ammo won out every time.

A couple of months ago, I was curious about the character "Dead Pool" and started reading (Wikipedia?) an article about him.

A couple of paragraphs in, my eyes glazed over and I simply no longer cared. In fact, I no longer wanted to see the movie. I went back to reading my book on pre-1941 Soviet military operations.

Now I know how Katie Couric would feel reading a learned treatise on hammer variations in the C96 Mauser pistol...

Deadpool is funny because he pretty much rips all the ideologies comics have to pieces and farts on them.

There's one series he did even you might find funny:all the US presidents come back from the dead and it's up to our boy Deadpool to stop them......

Seeing him dressed as Marilyn Monroe to fight JFK is a special kind of crazy :D

That's about as wrong as a $20,000 gold plated, engraved John Browning commemorative Hi-Point...

Ever seen Deadpool without his mask? the guy looks like Freddy Kruger.....trust me the character is all kinds of crazy,he talks to the readers,he knows he's in a comic,he's made jokes concerning gerbils,he's made suggestions to do gay porn with Spider-man...

You have to have a strong sense of humor and can't be morally uptight to like the guy.

As far as im concerned, the only Captain America---was the Steve Rogers done during the Steranko days--or the ones in the 40s.

That said, Nick Fury sure has changed. Now he's bald as a soccer ball, and uglier too. :-)) David Hasselhof played him decently in the made for tv movie.

Fun fact:the movie Fury is based on the "ultimate's" version.....there's like a few dozen different realities in both Marvel and DC comics so there's a few different versions of any given character.

Confused yet? Like I said the problem with American comics is the fact that the characters never die so they have to reinvent them every so often to keep it fresh, this becomes very confusing after awhile.

*ETA*

One thing I like about Manga is it either ends period or the people in it die,in the west one of the better characters for making sense is The Phantom as he's a generational character and it's been going on since the 1600's they could have done that with Batman and it'd be interesting.

But you'd have no Bruce Wayne,Joker or the like as they'd all die off-the big comics companies are all about $$$ so you have to have an icon who never goes away and that makes it real stupid after a time.

There was an episode of "Robot Chicken" in which all the Marvel super-heroes were gathered somewhere and one asked for a show of hands, "How many of you have died at least once and been brought back to life?"

Every hand but one went up.

I'm a daily reader of "Pearls Before Swine" and reruns of "Calvin And Hobbes" on GoComics.com (which also offers a huge number of other strips). Those two nicely take care of my comic art needs.

Typical Spy stuff.make the bad Guy thing You are one of then and then turn on Them for Your Country. Not very original.
