if you like the idea of different barrels look for a Dan Wesson , Gunbroker, auctionarms, maybe someone has one for sale here. also buy that 4". more guns more fun.

Unless you're a professional, swapping barrels is a good job for a pistolsmith. Lots of good revolvers have been turned into paperweights because the frames were sprung while re-barreling by do-it-youselfers.

Food for thought.

It will cost about $60 minimum for a barrel swap and that is if the new barrel does not have to be set back a turn and if resetting the b/c gap is minimal. That does not count the cost of the barrel of course. It is possible to completely ruin the frame if you are clumsy or unlucky doing it yourself. It's a good excuse to buy another gun.

You can either look for a gun with the barrel length you want, or find a barrel and pay somebody to change out barrels. I did several barrel changes back in the 80's, using the vice and hammer through the frame (proper tools weren't available back then) and found that it just wasn't worth the risk you take. N frames will change fairly easily, but K frames tend to bend, and colt D frames will break just under the barrel (see the $500 paperweight).

You are ahead to just buy the gun in barrel length you want.

You would have little trouble finding someone who would trade you for a 4" 66. A 66 snubbie is thought to be a perfect CCW gun by many.
