Chicken Wings

How many of those little wings does it take to lift a Buffalo.

Boneless wings made from breast meat are way cheaper per pound than actual wings and there's virtually no waste for the restaurants to deal with. That's some pretty slick marketing right there!

When I was young, chicken breasts were the premium cut and they were $3-$4 (all prices I'm quoting are per LB). Wings were considered "peasant food" and I remember seeing them priced at 39 cents.

Today, you can buy boneless skinless breasts for under $2. Bone-in skin-on breasts are $3-$3.50. They cook up juicier and taste better, but they're not as healthy. How is it that they can get away with virtually doubling the price, when they leave the skin and bone on?

Wings have become really popular and sell for $4/LB or more. They're about 1/2 scrap and not good for you, but they are yummy when prepared properly. According to reports, Americans will eat about 1-1/3 billion wings on Super Bowl Sunday. That's about 4 wings for every man, woman and child in the country!

I can buy whole chickens for $1/LB and it takes less than 10 minutes to cut one up. I understand convenience and the laws of supply and demand, but somebody is really pulling a fast one here!

Need to move down here.
Bone in, skin on breasts go on sale all the time for 99 cents.

To me wings have to have bones in them.

Frank's Hot sauce, butter etc. is a standard sauce but I also enjoy my
Asian wings with garlic, ginger, Hoisin and "Red Rooster" hot sauce for starters.

I don't care for the honey mustard dip but hay, it is all good if there are enough wings to go around.

Boneless wings.............
I would rater have cheese curds or onion rings.

You can leave the bones in mine. Junior and I just slow smoked two dozen wings in my smoker. We put several pieces of venison sausage on the rack above to drip down on the wings. That was our LSU/Clemson game meal and it was fantastic. Very tender and very tasty. We smoke with hickory limbs cut from our own trees. By just cutting the limbs I don't see us ever running out of hickory.

When I was growing up, a chicken wing was complete with a drum stick and a flat.
Now when you order a chicken wing, it is a drum stick or a flat, so you are paying for just a half of a chicken wing. Also the restaurants are now charging for a glass of water (ice and a slice of lemon is extra)

the younger me LOVED wings and that KFC stuff, the older ,healthy me eats it with the breading , the skin, and all the sauces removed, leaves hardly anything to put in a small salad....MUNCH AWAY GUYS !!

sad,but good heart health ((( Ha HA))stopped beer and wings, lost 85 pounds..........BUT still remember how good it all is.....;)

Are boneless wings as advertised on TV the same thing as chicken nuggets? If not, how do chickens fly with no bones in their wings? If so, how did they get the bones out of the wings?

Well, you see, the boneless ones come from the "stealth" chickens. The lack of bones helps avoid detection from the chicken hawks. How they get the bones out of the wings is a national secret and has something to do with Area 51. I've studied this for some time and consider myself sort of a chicken expert. Just saying...

That explains a lot of things. I'll not go into great detail........
