Guys now I enjoy a fancy bourbon or beer every once and a while, even a spot of good wine or port. But every once in a while, I get a good craving going on for something I used to drink in my younger days when money was tight:

Guys I'm talking about Colt 45 malt liquor, and I'm not afraid to say that on a public forum! Truth be known many nights were spent with friends and iced 40s of Colt 45 or similar malt liquors such as the venerable Olde English 800 or Mickey's and often some greasy, over-salted gas station snacks. :)

I might have one of these once a year at the most, often when it's hot out. Just brings back a lot of memories and fun to reminisce.

Anyone else enjoy a cold 40 from time to time? Don't be shy! :D

I didn't drink Colt 45, but have drank some Bali Hi, Mad dog 20-20, wild Irish Rose, and Thunder Bird while young and short on cash. For $.89 you could get two bottles of either of the above at the the Airman Club package store at Kadina AB Okinawa in 1969. The hang over was miserable. No I do not desire to try them again those are best left in the past.

What no Akotma Plum wine. Oh, my Akado my Akado. A song sung by "Plum" drunk Marines on Okinawa. Heres to BC street!

I still occasionally partake of a can of the Olde English. I think there are three cans in my garage refrigerator, it's been a while since I've had one. I also like Steel Reserve 211, which is about 8% alcohol. It is surprisingly good, but you do taste the alcohol. I think it is brewed by Miller.

It's been close to fifty years since I found out I wasn't tough enough to drink Colt .45. Without a doubt, it's nasty stuff. There used to be another called Country Club Malt Liquor, also hazardous drinking material. Maybe all malt liquors are...

ONLY IF IT COMES IN A PAPER BAG.

4 - 12 oz's would be more my speed over the last 40 years or so. That thing would be pretty darn warm towards the end. OTOH 3-4 frosty liter mugs of good import at a "house of beer" prior to a movie was easy. Ended up seeing more of the men's room than the film however. PURPLE DRANK may be more of the hot seller now???

Jay Framer no need to apologize, I used to like it too. It went great with food and my usual lunch while in college was a couple tall boys of Colt 45 and a footlong Subway. Problem is, I tried it a few years ago and it didn't taste at all like I remembered it from the late 1980's. Nowdays it tastes sweet and "chemically". Foster's used to be good as well, but the modern days stuff is nasty. I suspect the problem is that nowdays much of what is on the market comes out of a few huge breweries who brew a number of different brands "under license".

Used to enjoy a 40 malt liquor. When traveling and staying in motels I would usually find some at a nearby gas station. Just enough to relax after being on the road each day. Wife settled for wine.

My daughter came home from college and found me drinking some. She was surprised and said in college they would call it "shooting 40's". I was not pleased.
