Many people don't fill out the warranty card, or register their new gun online. Recently I purchased 2 HK's, & 2 Beretta's, & registered them online. One HK was 10 years old, & the Beretta's were 9 years old. As far as they know, these guns sat unsold in the LGS for all these years, & I'm the 1st owner. I bought my brother's 40c which is 3 years old. He too did not register it with S&W, & I haven't either. It has no problems, & I'm very happy with it. Yeah, the trigger could be better, but for a carry gun, it's just fine. GARY
