LOL....NO!

That said..... a few summers back ran into a few "plainclothes' officers from the next Burb over (over the course of the summer) at a local Sheetz's ...... khakis and navy blue Polo shirts..... open carry with their badge on their belt in front of their holster (gun, badge, spare mag).. NO one gave them a second look ....... but no one could "read" the badge.

Look the part and folks just "give it the benefit of the doubt".

Might have bought the good Samaritan in the other thread.... a few much needed seconds?????????

Got my Dad's old badges Patrolman to Captain...... :) Our Twp. Chief gave me a Dept ball cap........guess he expects I might wear it????

Displaying any kind of badge as a civilian creates the potential to be charged for impersonating a police officer, and will definitely put a CCW holder on the wrong foot when 'splaining things to the actual police when they arrive.

The absolute best way to communicate "I'm not a threat" is to have empty hands, be calm, and comply with all commands when contacted by LE.

Anyone wanting to carry a badge needs to be a cop. Or UNIFORMED security. To me and YMMV, someone who carries a gun and wants to wear a badge is making it clear that they want trouble or unearned prestige.

I don't carry my retirement badge or ID. I also just pay my traffic tickets and tell the officer who writes those, "Thank you" without telling him/her how important I used to be.

So, how is it displayed?

On the belt? If your gun/holster is concealed the badge is concealed too and responders to your shooting won’t see it.

On a neck chain? Are you really going to walk around all day every day with a toy badge around your neck? If its under your shirt its gonna get old fast. If its outside your shirt you’re gonna look like a moron.

In a badge wallet? Holding up a shiny chunk of metal as the cops roar up is a singularly bad idea.

I had a real badge and I hardly ever carried it. When I retired they thoughtfully sunk it into a block of lucite. Maybe I should carry that around and lob it at the cavalry when they show up.
