I have a Vortex Strike Fire II red/green dot scope. Have had it for a few year since the II model came out. I don't use it very often and the original battery it came with (some off brand) is dead.

It takes a CR2 3 Volt Lithium. Does anyone have a preference for either Duracell or Energizer?

Energizer. I've seen quite a few Duracell batteries (usually the CR123s in tac lights) leak after installed and not used for a length of time. Not particularly the CR2 but why chance it? Never had any issues with Energizer batteries.

For years I've had numerous items which use the CR123 cell, none of them have ever leaked. Last week I was checking my car's glove box and found two of them in an original twin pack that have probably been there for at least 10 years. Both were nearly dead so I pitched them but they hadn't leaked either. Some no-name brand. I think the last ones I bought was a 4-pack of Energizers I bought off eBay maybe 6 months ago. Used them to replace old batteries in my security system's motion detectors.
