I covered local politics for almost 30 years and there were many folks who were at least TRYING to do the "right thing," whenever they could agree on what that might be.
And there was the occasional jerk, doofus and once in a great while, downright crook. But most were honest. Just MHO.

This post falls in the old saying “I learn something new everyday.”. I never thought about it like that. Thanks for the lesson. My late 89 year old stepfather used to love hearing the phone ring, check the caller ID, noting a spam call, then answering it and immediately hanging up. He would do it and laugh, thinking about how he got over on them! I always reminded him that he was only letting the caller know that SOMEONE was on the other end, and it was better not to answer it.

I'm building a house for myself and crooks stole the second floor 3/4" decking worth about 3 grand. Then I had the roof loaded with shingles and the roofer worked one day and someone came that night and stole about another 3 grand worth shingles. My builders risk insurance policy has a $5,000 deductible per each theft, so no luck there. I even had cameras out and they pointed them at the ceiling.
