I belong to a couple of forums that not only have no "likes" but actually have turned off the post counter in the "lounge, off topic" boards.

Wow! That is extreme! As Megyn Kelly would say "that's too cupcake!" I don't see what the problem is with "likes" especially being from California, I like like to give like a lot of likes. I think there is a place for it and in this tech world of people connecting through the internet, the act of "liking" actually brings people closer together. I don't get offended if people don't "like" my comments. I tend to be more sincere than witty and am okay with that.
