What has the best trigger, a 4586/83 or a P220 DAK? With cost being the same, I'm having a difficult time deciding. Use will be primarily bedside gun with occasional carry will in the woods. I have two M&Ps and a LCP so I'm already familiar with DAO style operating procedures.

Old school 3rd Gen. DAOs - very good.

3rd Gen. TSW DAOs - decent but underwhelming.

DAK - DAO perfected. I thought I was in love with the older 3rd Gen. DAOs and they're my second favorite but once I got a DAK 226 I've nothing more for which to look.

Just for reference, I own 11 auto-pistols and all but one, a Colt Commander, are DAOs (2 are Glocks with NY-1 trigger springs and 3.5lb. connectors so I think those count).

This is of course subjective and a sample of merely one but from what I've gathered my experience with DAK isn't a limited experience. I don't like going against the Smiths however the yummy goodness of DAK must be felt to truly be appreciated. First pull - long but light and smoooooth. Reset all the way and you get the same. Reset only half-way and you get a bit stiffer but short and smooth.

The one that changed it all - $425 police trade-in w/ night sights and 3 15-rounders:

Thanks for the reply. Are the 3rd gen DAO triggers similar to a LCP or nicer? Any more of those SIG trade is where you got yours?

I have a sig 229 .40 in a DAK. The trigger is smooth but very long and about 6-7lbs pull. The reset feels almost as long. Great when your shooting 50-100 rounds not so great when I used it in a tactical pistol course shooting over 450rounds in a day! IMO the length of the pull needs to be cut in half, that would bring it in line with an old school 38 revolver. I can't compare it to an M&P since I don't have one. I have a 5906 and a snub nose revolver.

M1A2: No, I they're all gone. It's been quite a while.

The length of pull IS cut in half if you only reset halfway but the subsequent pull will be a bit stiffer. Have you spent any significant time with your DAK because you just asked for it to have a feature that it already has?
