Do you carry a revolver for CCW? Which one?

when I carry a revolver it generally tends to be my Ruger SP101(2 1/4") or my S&W 65-2 (2 1/2") both 357's....... both are easily concealed....... 65-2 has a bobbed hammer so it can go in my pocket a little easier.

A 637 or a SP101-DAO. Both work nicely in a front pocket. But so does a 3913.

I consider myself a "revolver guy" and love my S&W revolvers for many reasons... but when it came time to pick a carry gun, I ended up in a Glock 19. As an S&W fan, I always hated Glocks, with their ugly looks, plastic frames, and did I mention ugly looks. But they conceal so easily IWB, bring a lot more firepower than a revolver, and actually shoot really sweet. I still pack a J-frame 640 if I am going to run a quick errand to the corner market and back... and if I am hiking, I will pack on a large S&W revolver just in case I run into any wildlife. But for everyday carry, it is the Glock. You only need to carry it for about a week and then you start to feel really underarmed when you go out with just a J-frame and some speed strips.

My experience is pretty much the same!

My EDC's

I carry a Scandium 340 in my front pocket most everywhere I go, but some days I tote my Colt Commander around. The days that I am out on the ranch or hunting I carry one of my 58's.

See I take the exact opposite path! I own a glock 19 and I love it! Super reliable and very accurate. For carry I purchased a 649. I find it much more concealable and loaded with federal .357C 125 gr JHP rounds I feel it has MORE knockdown power than my 19. Less rounds. More umph. Nothing wrong with either approach but its funny how 2 people can chose differently. Bottom line it's what works for YOU.

Always, I never leave the house with out.........

this 649 that has been worked over by C&S in my pocket.

If should be down the model 36 that has been fixed up a bit takes its place.

Even if I am carrying a large handgun on my belt.

In my opinion the S&W J frame is the most reliable personal defense weapon that can be carried almost anywhere, anytime.

I assume this being the S&W forum revolver section most people here carry a revolver for CCW, but perhaps not.

What do you carry; revolver or auto? If revolver, what is your primary carry?

I do not, but if I did, I believe it would be the 642, assuming attire did not allow for a coat or other covering garment for a larger revolver.

Nice Chief! Love those stag boot grips-- who made those? And what kind of finish is on the gun?
I agree about j-frames-- IMHO they're the best overall combination of concealability, shootability, and firepower. I have two 36's & a 60. Just bought a 3rd gen Colt Detective Special and it's nice enough, but I still prefer my Chiefs. As much as they talk about how great the Colt triggers are, my Chiefs all have a better DA pull than either of the two DS's I've had.

No dash M60 charged with Speer 135 gr SB plus P.
It wears Ahrends Cocobolo finger groove boot grips.
Carried in a Lobo Gunleather OWB Pancake holster.
I also have a Mika pocket holster, for hot weather.
I also have a M442 and a 4 inch M67 that I can carry.

Best,
Rick

I really like that holster. Can you advise the specifics on it? I could not find a match on the Side Guard website.
Thanks,
Gonzo

Gonzo, Just email the gentleman at SGH (can't remember his first name). Do you have a NG315? I was afraid I would never find a holster for that thing, which is a shame because it's my absolute favorite carry gun. I have other K frame 2 and 2.5" holsters but it never fit in any of them (sights were the problem). The SGH guy assured me he had a mock 315 dummy gun for reference and sure enough... one of the most comfortable holster/gun combos I have ever worn. I've got two holsters from him and plan to order another one for a Sig P232 when I ever get around to it. I could go on and on about his holsters but I figure buying again from the same maker says it all...I wouldn't spend my money again unless I was 100% satisfied; there are just too many other makers not to be 100%. I hope that helped. By the way he emailed me back within 48hrs everytime I shot him an email.

The two revolvers are fine examples of quality!
