Do you carry a revolver for CCW? Which one?

My primary carry gun.....

Usually with one, or more, of these as a back-up (BUG.) ;)

Although I normally carry a CZ75, quite often I revert to a 4" 29-2 in a Simply Rugged pancake holster. Back when I was a cop I carried a 4" mod 66 and have always been a wheelgun lover.

I've lately been carrying a 686 3" in a Galgo summer comfort holster. Yes it's an L frame, but since it's winter and I wear a coat over everything, it conceals very well and comfortably. I also like to carry a model 60 and occasionally (well in the warmer months) I carry a 642 in the front pocket.

Depends on the circumstances but I feel like I can't go wrong with a Springfield Armory 1911-A1 in .45 ACP in a Kramer IWB. It's my old IPSC pistol so it'll chamber anything I put in the clip. A 60's vintage Model 10-5 2" in a Gould-Goodrich belt scabbard works well for hanging around and while working (thank God for self-employment). I'm hoping to get a Kramer rig for my 1908 Pocket Hammerless .380 soon. Might be nice for those rare social occasions. And what the heck, the Colt 3rd. gen. SAA in 45Colt is fun too; after all, this is New Mexico.

I carry my 2 and 1/2 Inch CA 44 spl Bulldog revolver a primary carry but also my S&W 642-1 38 Special, airweight in a pocket holster in a front pocket as well. I carry two speed loaders for each. Extra ammo in my vehicle for both. If dress does not permit me on rare occasion I might only carry my 38 Spl. Both loaded with hollow points. I do not own any SA's, only revolvers.

I assume this being the S&W forum revolver section most people here carry a revolver for CCW, but perhaps not.

What do you carry; revolver or auto? If revolver, what is your primary carry?
For me, a carry gun has to meet the balance of "enough gun for the circumstance I am likely to be in" vs it's ease/comfort of carry. A big double stack Semi auto 45 is worthless if left at home in the safe because the thought of carry was tiring.
That said, I've always used one flavor of J frame or another as my primary carry. The one I seem to have settled on is a bobbed 360PD with CT grips stuffed with 38+P and carried in a easy/fast to attach Lobo snap slide OWB holster..
On the rare case I switch to a semi auto , it's a BG380 for pocket carry.

I often carry a 442 in my front pocket. I have also been known to carry an SP-101 in both my pocket or crossdraw on a belt. The largest revolver I have carried (also crossdraw) was a 3" 65 that I regrettably sold. That was a great gun, I would like to get another one some day .

A 642 is always in my pocket with +p's. But beside me in my truck my mod 66 4 inch is right there.

I carry a 442 +p in a belt pouch from 5.11. I am a big bellied guy and the pouch fits me better. I would prefer to carry my 27-2 5" barrel but have not been able to find a cc holster.

I normally cary a .45 auto, a Nickel Ithaca 1911-A1 with Buffalo bone grips , Springfield Armory Champion with stag grips, Sig P-220, and soon to be once I'm done upgrading the sights a H&K USP 45.
As far as revolvers go I will at times carry a S&W 642 Rebel Flag, An old S&W Cleveland Police Department model 10 Snubby with stag grips, and a Ruger Security Six with a 3" barrel and stag grips.

I carry either a S&W 642 or a Colt Magnum Carry. I find that my M66 & M67 are a tad too large. But a recent acquisition 5906 is a possibility in the future, after I find a shoulder holster.

I carry a model 637 in my right front pocket when knocking around town, a CZ75B IWB with two spare mags when traveling out of town, and either a 629-6 or Super Blackhawk with 4 5/8" barrell when foot propelled.

When riding a 4-wheeler, anything short of a bazooka works for me.

For years my main carry has been one of my 29-2's, still is.
Loaded with Eldorado Starfire 240gr jacketed HP's.
Have carried my 629 3" and a Rossie 2" .357 at times.

Due to my work I have to carry the smallest footprint possible.

Mine is the top North American Black Widow .22 Magnum with Winchester PDX1 personal defense rounds. These generate 1295 FPS 40 grain bullet out of a 2" barrel.

The bottom gun is my wife's CCW and it is a Kel Tec P32 using FMJ's.

I work in Dental Offices all over town. If some of these people and Doctors knew I was packing the S&^T would hit the fan. No one knows I carry this.

I carry a 3" 686 most of the time and a 438 in the pocket when not carrying the 686.

I live in South Florida, so my seasonal clothing changes from shorts to a LITTLE more coverage in our "winter" months.

Most often, I carry a 342PD. When I can conceal a bit better, it's a SW99 compact in .40 S&W. I really love them both... It's just a different tool for different situations.

Best wishes,

I'm 75 with health limitations and don't get out as much as I used to. When I do there's always a 640 no-dash loaded with Remington +P 158grain LSWCHP in an Uncle Mike's pocket holster in my right front pocket.

The Uncle Mike's pocket holster is a heck of a bargain. Does what it's supposed to very inexpensively.

I have changed up my carry pieces and sold the Charter .32 Mag; bought a 632 Centennial Airweight. Currently carry a Kel-Tec P-11 in 9mm.

I'm fascinated by how many folks carry a J-frame in their front pocket. I've never worn baggy enough pants to get away with that (jeans most of my life). Most of my IWB carry has been with a Colt Commander or Officer's ACP. For the last few years I've had to give up the semi autos because of arthritis in the hands. Lately I've been hauling around a PC 681+ 3" in a Maxpadition Good-to-Go shoulder bag. Yea, it's a guy purse but sometimes you just have to make do as best you can. (smile)

I carry my 642 in a Mika pocket holster. No problem in Dockers or most jeans. The LCP (also in a Mika) works with thin dress pants.
