Do you carry a revolver for CCW? Which one?

Revolvers
66-1 2 1/2"
66-3 3"

Autos
Walther (S&W) PPK/S
6904
S&W 1911Sc 4.25"

I will carry any of the above...others are range duty only.:)

Model 38. But sometimes a 1911A1. But I have a plan to shorten my 1917 Brazilian's barrel, bob the hammer, and round butt it to K frame grips, install a trituim Big Dot for front sight. Maybe an OD duracoat. It has pits and dings in the barrel on a reblue so not in collector's condition. It does shoot well and is on my hip right now with the lightweight 38 in my Nemesis pocket holster. The '17 has moon clipped Winchester 230 gr BEB flat points. The 38spl, Winchester PDX1 130 gr bonded JHP.

642 with Crimson Trace grips loaded with Glaser safety slugs 99% of the time, I also carry my NAA .22LR with folding grip when I running the trails. First round is snake shot and the next 4 fragmented

Model 13-3, 4" bbl is my primary carry (3 speedloaders). On occasion, (as needs require) I switch to my Kel-Tec P-11 (2 extra mags).

Routinely I carry a Model 642-2 in an El Paso Saddlery pocket holster. On occasion I'll switch to a 649 but the lightweight 642 is just so easy to carry in any pants I almost never change from it.

I've carried Model 10s and even a gun as large as a Model 27 concealed when the occasion called for it. But very often the J-frame is still in my pocket.

CCW

Preferred CCW Model 13-3 3in bbl Loaded with Winchester 158 grain +P+. 2nd choice Model 65-5 3in bbl same load. 3rd Model 60 loaded with 130 grain Federal Hydra shocks +P. 1st two carried in a Lobo enhanced pancake. Mod 60 in a crossbreed supertuck.

I consider myself a "revolver guy" and love my S&W revolvers for many reasons... but when it came time to pick a carry gun, I ended up in a Glock 19. As an S&W fan, I always hated Glocks, with their ugly looks, plastic frames, and did I mention ugly looks. But they conceal so easily IWB, bring a lot more firepower than a revolver, and actually shoot really sweet. I still pack a J-frame 640 if I am going to run a quick errand to the corner market and back... and if I am hiking, I will pack on a large S&W revolver just in case I run into any wildlife. But for everyday carry, it is the Glock. You only need to carry it for about a week and then you start to feel really underarmed when you go out with just a J-frame and some speed strips.

I carry my 642 whenever feasible. When not, it's the BG380 in the pocket. I may carry both if I ever feel the need. Occasionally, I may carry the smaller S&W blade shown with the BG380 around my neck under a pull over sweater as well.

For the last half century or so I have packed a BHP slightly customized by Wayne Novak, Since I used to be a cop on the beat where he and his parents lived in Chicago, he did a great job for a packing gun(although he does a great job for everyone). In circumstances where I could not carry the Browning, I packed a Colt Commander, in .45 ACP of course. As soon as they became available I added a 940 as an off duty/BUG. In an emergency I can reload the 940 with the BHP mag. For a while I carried a 940 in .356, but went back to the 9mm. Still carry the same combo today. Since I am no longer as strong as I once was, I carry the BHP half cocked with the safety on, let some gun grabber try to figure that one out before he is on the receiving end of the 940s' first 5.
I still carry the 940-always.
A new idea has crept into my aging brain, one of my sons gave me a 325NG. So when I am offf duty but am going to a questionable area(most of Chicago these days) I carry both wheelguns. Or maybe the BHP and 940. I really like the fast reload on the 940, and I have a 37-2 with a blackened 9mm cylinder that is cut for moon clips and will shoot .380 in a pinch, as well as 9mm and .38 Special+P.
I carry 2 extra moon clips for the 940 in a leather tube that a local leather guy made me-takes up hardly any room in a pocket.
I carry all small frame revolvers in my left pocket(or OWB) and shoot them lefthanded. The 325NG rides in an OWB high ride, also with 2 extra moon clips in a slightly larger tube, this tube can go into a pocket or on a belt just behind the holster. I think the really better power of the .45 ACP or rimmed is worth the extra effort. My "retirement" gun is a Colt Diamondback 2.5" that I just got back from C&S, it will put 6 158gr SWC +P into just over one hole at 20 yards. BTW, with 9s I use Federal 9BP HP ammo, with .45 I use a 200 gr +P flat point, for any .45 ACP for that matter.

I carry my J frame Model 60 in a Bianchi pocket holster, a Model 19 2 1/2 in a soft holster or a leather holster, and a Springfield XDm 3.8 in .40 S&W with my GALCO leather holster. It Just depends on how I am feeling and what the weather is going to do.
