Do You Ever Just Sit and Hold, Admire Your Gun Collection?

Hello...
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this. I just wonder how many people just kind of hang out and hold their guns, look at them, clean them when they are already clean, and basically just admire their firearms? I find myself staying up late, practicing how I hold my guns, looking down the sights at a target on my wall often. I really enjoy my firearms, but I start thinking maybe I spend too much time on them. I'm not married and it doesn't take my time away from important things. I just wonder how many other people do this.

I do that often. My latest love interest is my newly acquired 4506, but I have a weapon's collection that ranges from from Model 1898 Krag rifles to 1911s, to Model 49 Bodyguard, to L1A1Australian SLR rifles...and many others...they all speak to me.

I do it far more than I can describe.

Doing it SHOULD make me shop and hunt for guns less, because my collection is far more than enough to keep me happy.

Count me in. I dig my few guns out of the safe most days, put one next to my chair to occasionally fondle, and set the others out on display. The other days I take a couple of them up to my cabin and shoot them. Retirement does have some rewards. All revolvers though, no autos.

Thanks. I just got it from a friend. I didn't even know I wanted one...then got nostalgic for a 645 I used to have. The fact that I'm 90% sure a police officer carried it makes it a true honor to own. My other "oft fondled" Smith is my Model 49.

Even when I carry one, I feel like it's partly for protection but also cause I just like looking at it! That's the downside of firearms, to be "safe" they need to be locked away! I have young kids, so seeing them is a special treat! Wish I could just hang them on the walls of my bedroom!! Pretty sure that would end in a divorce though.

My latest interest are 3rd Generation pistols, although I have everything from a .410 single shot up to a East German MPi-KM-72.

If guns were women, I'd be in deep, deep excrement.

Who would ever want to get away from the wife and kids to spend time, (quality time,) alone with firearms. And knives.

Yep I'm not ready for recovery yet since I feel I don't have a problem. Denial is my position on this.

My rifles are around the corner.

I forgot to mention... I quit smoking cigarettes to have more money to buy guns. It was a truly amazing motivator. No cigarettes for 4 years now.

I had moved into a new apartment and had left most of my guns in the safe at the ancestral manse, and hadn't yet gotten one for my place. I was buying furniture and "decorating" on the fly. One of the things I did was to display the guns around the apartment. On tables, bookshelves, leaned in a corner, etc. The apartment manager comes in to replace a smoke alarm while I was at work. When I got home, I texted him to see if he had done it or if he still needed to. He texted me back with 2 texts. 1 was "Done." 2 was "What's with all the guns?" I laughed for a few minutes. Likely loud enough that he could hear me. I told him I just liked to collect and shoot guns. He said, and I'm not making this up, "Not in the apartment, right?" I sent this back, "Of course not! If anything happens in the apartment, I'll use the knives!" I didn't receive a return text.

I do that! I try to take out something different every day and clean, check and admire it. I started at the beginning of the pandemic, I should be starting over again soon!

I do. It all started with the 6.5mm Arisaka and bayonet that hung on the wall of my boyhood home. My grandfather went in to Okinawa attached to the third wave of marines. He was Navy but from thence forward he was authorized to wear the USMC Eagle Globe and Anchor emblem on his uniform. It was his most prized decoration.

I love to dry fire mine. After work, or if I'm working at home, I'll pull out a pistol or three and practice lining up the sights and getting a nice clean trigger pull. Smiths, Walther, Sigs, CZ… doesn't matter. I enjoy them all.

But seriously, that's half the fun... admiring what you've worked hard to acquire, be it firearms, knives, cars, etc.
