I love our dogs right next to my wife and ahead of the grandkids, BUT no dogs allowed in our bed. I have told my wife when and if she ever wants to move to twin beds she can have all of them sleep with her if she wishes. One of them wouldn't give up his dogie pad for any human's bed. The latest addition is only 4.5 months old and has already indicated her preference for her kennel in the corner of our bedroom.

For about a 10 year period many years ago I raised and trained Dobermans for show and protection dogs. At one time I had two males and two females living in the house and they slept anyplace they wanted in our bedroom on the carpeted floor, but never on the bed. When the females became pregnant they on their own moved back into their kennels. During that time my wife had a Siamese female cat that was raised with the Dobies and I was sure that she thought she was a Doberman with a physical handicap. She slept on the bed at my wife's feet and that didn't bother me or the Dobies a bit. ............ Big Cholla

All of our dogs have always slept with us, but then we've always had smaller dogs.

From many of the responses so far... I know that some of you will not only "get" this cartoon... but you are living it.

You're much more likely to pick up a virus or harmful bacteria from another human than a dog.

Now you've got something else to make you sick thinking about.:D

Unless you or your kissing partner use your tongue as toilet paper, I respectfully disagree. Both mouths are full of different types of bacteria.

Small dog (<15 lbs.) sleeps on the foot of the bed. Once she earned our trust and her keep as a watch dog the Mrs. and I allowed her the run of the house.

Dog knows I'm awake before I do. No problem opening my eyes to a big doggie grin and a fast moving nub of a tail.

I'll bet you've kissed your car more then once! What kind of germs does a horse have. Bottom line is, dogs have been with man, and woman, long before cars. So due to longevity, dogs owners win. All kidding aside that is a great car!

My Beagle Sammie is a commuter .
I'm a early to bed guy so Sammie will come to bed with me.
But when my wife go's to bed he makes a bee line for Momma's bed.:D

I do love my labs...but draw the line at them climbing into bed (or on furniture)! Laying on a slate table in the sun is ok though.

The dog is on guard duty in the kitchen/living room. At night and day. Four cats at times two are still kittens sleep with us.

Funny story my rottie was on my son's bed sleeping with him. While my lager mixed lab was on the floor near them. I noticed this when they used the bathroom. I got up an hour later the kid was on the floor and the two dogs were in his bed. I wish I did a video on it. Here's the two dogs in bed stretched out.

My pets are professionally groomed, deflead and free of tics. There my wife's dogs more like kids.

Heck no. For me it would be nasty. A 130 lb great pyrenees that drools and sheds and farts is not getting in my bed. She takes a position between the sleeping family members and the top of the stairs. To get to us you got to get by her.

I never liked it but it's kinda hard to move a 90# Rottweiler that wants to sleep on your feet.

Our dogs always did and now the cat does whenever he wants to.

I voted for "Depends on the dog". Every dog I've ever had slept in the bed with me. From child hood and on into my adult life, both of them.

My first wife and I had a mutt that we rescued and she was a sweet heart. Short hair and short ears and her odor wasn't bad at all. With the occasional bath it was not a problem.

Miss Pam and I had a cocker spaniel for 7 1/2 years and he slept with us when ever he wanted to, which was about half the time. This dog could get funky in 3 or 4 days so we bathed him about twice a week.

I would not let any dog into my bed that I couldn't whip in a fight....just incase a disagreement came up in the night.

Our pot lickers. A Blue Lacy on the right (state dog of Texas.). Next to my late Brittany hunter, she is the most awesome dog ever. The smartest and the fastest thing I've seen on four legs.

The other, I dunno. Both are rescues.

Yeah I was a strict "no dogs on the furniture", too. But if it were me or the dogs in the bed, my wife wouldn't miss me a bit. The Lacey does her best to push me out, anyway. She's 70 lbs and all leg, and wants to be right next to someone. If I get up to relieve myself (becoming more & more common) I lose my place &'have to pry her loose.
