DUU-XXXX going back to S&W

mod34, I would not hesitate buying another one. It is friggin' cool. Take one look at the hundreds of posts on this forum. Then take a look at the hundreds of posts on YouTube. (Hope you have a few days to go through it all). The 15-22 has taken on almost a cult status. The fact that I had an issue actually places me in the minority... and if you read through the repair posts you'll see that the vast majority who have had their 15-22's returned from S&W after repair enjoy the same awesome reliability as everyone else.

Keep in mind that the M&P 15-22 wasn't awarded the rifle of the year for 2010 just by picking it out of a hat. Overwhelmingly, it is one kick-ass firearm. For that matter, the M&P 15 (the M&P 15-22's big brother) was awarded the rifle of the year for 2009.

I called S&W back to check status, I was told that the rifle is in "Rifle Repair" and they "hope to get to it tomorrow or early next week".
So, I might have it back by next weekend...but I won't bet the house on it.

Well, if it shoots as well as the rifles that others here had to send back, I'll still consider myself ahead.

According to S&W customer service, the rifle is finished and will be shipping out today.

Mine shipped yesterday too. Called S&W today and got the tracking number, called FedEx and had them put a "hold at station" on the shipment so I can pick it up after work on Friday.

*fingers crossed*

I received a call from customer service this afternoon. I'll be swinging by S&W this Saturday to pick up my rifle. I plan on going to their onsite range and testing it out within 20min of picking it up. The anxiety builds... :)

Well, I got my rifle back from Smith & Wesson today.
The ejector still wiggles around, just like it did when I sent it in.
I'll try to get it to the range tomorrow. If it still fails to eject every 2-3 rounds like it did, me and Smith are going to have some serious problems.

Well, I took it to the range today. 225 rounds, including CCI Minimags, Federal American Eagle, and Federal 550 bulk.
0 failure to eject, 0 stovepipes.
It looks like Smith fixed it right. I'm still confused about the wiggly ejector, but as long as it runs correctly, I'll ignore that.:)

glad to hear! and another to the list of fixed guns... very rarely does someone ever have to send back twice unless they are seperate incidents.

glad to hear..... i'm hoping to get mine in a couple of weeks, hopefully next year ;)

Since picking up my rifle earlier this week, I haven't had the chance to take it to the range - which will be tomorrow morning. I did break it down as soon as I got home and immediately saw the ejector was replaced (as in brand new with the paint still on it). There was no wiggle at all. S&W threw in a mag as well.

At this point in time, I can only hope that tomorrow I'll have as happy a time at the range as Crazyfingers did.

HAPPY TO HEAR

I`m really happy to hear that your rifle worked perfectly. Hopefully it will stay that way. Were snowed in so it`ll be a couple of days before I get to the range. :D

Range Report:

When I bought my rifle, it performed flawlessly for the first 400rds before problems starting popping up (i.e. the loose ejector and subsequent failures to eject).

Today I blew through a box of 550rds bulk Federal. No problems - meaning to say it was 100% reliable - no failures to feed, no failures to eject, no failures to fire.

If one were to put stock in the old wives tale... if the wind blew across my face at the range, it would have frozen my huge grin for eternity. :D

It sucks that the problem happened in the first place, but S&W made it right. The customer service was great; and I can say I stepped foot on the S&W headquarters. Friggin' cool.
