Eagles

I've been watching off and on since just before the hatching.
The oldest (one day older) is really a bully! And eating those fish days after being brought to the nest. I guess they'll eat anything.

Their are several eagle cams and I enjoy watching them as well . . . thanks for sharing the link to this one.

We've got a nesting pair of eagles in a remote area on my neighbor's property. It's a short hike from our place and Mrs. Faulkner and I hike in for pictures from time to time. I took this one just a few weeks ago.

Lots of eagles up here. Saw 7 driving home from the VA in Sturgis. Feeding on road kill deer. Asked the local Guru of birds and was told that there are about 450 locals, and this time of the year 1000's of transients. See them around town sometimes. Absolutely magnificent.

Saw them in concert a few times, but not the same since Frye died...

But seriously, love the bird Eagles too. At our lake house, we've and got an eagle that'll perch way up on one of the trees on our property. He'll sit there and scout. It's an amazing sound when it takes off out of that nest to swoop down on a fish! You hear this long, slow, "whooop, whooop, whooop" of their wings flapping. They're killers when it comes to snagging those fish!

There is an eagle feeding frenzy during the autumn salmon run at Haines AK.

Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve

I was on the Chilkat River in 2017 to photograph the eagles. Also encountered my first grizzly bear in the wild on the Chilkat. Trumpeter swans also nest there.

My brother and I were out in the yard when an eagle flew over our heads toward Lake Erie. We watched the eagle lowering its talons like the landing gear on a plane as it swooped down toward the beach. The next thing we saw was the eagle flying straight up with a fish bent double in the eagle's talons. How cool was that?

We have 2 nesting pairs of Golden eagles on the bluff in front of the house.. We see them a lot Saw one yesterdayover the house at about 50 ft..Big birds. When I fished on the cheasapeake I fished near an Osprey nest on the Chester River. If I caught a perch or small bluefish the pair of ospreys would screech at you to let 'em have it. We usually cleaned our catch near the channel maker where they had their nest...we threw the heads etc to them...and part of the times an ol Bald eagle would swoop down and grab the parts. The ospreys would screech and chase the eagles...from behind. Lot of eagles on the rivers etc. I've seen the eagles catch flying Canada geese. What a sight!

I was expecting to see tour dates. :D Yes, I love the birds too. Nothing better than eagle watching in Alaska. One of the many highlights of living/working up there.

I live very close to Indianapolis. I was cleaning my garage in the fall, probably October when I heard a murder of crows mobbing something in the backyard. Probably 15 or 20 crows. Being work averse since I retired I happily took a break to see was the fuss was all about. They had moved to a tree about 20 yards into my back yard. I walked toward the tree and expected a squirrel or something stole the crows roadkill or something. As I walked up to the tree, probably 10 yards away from me, was a beautiful eagle tearing shreds of meat off something. I just stood there and did not move, the eagle looked at me unconcerned and continued to eat. The crows were really going crazy and finally the eagle took off, swooped low into my backyard which is downhill so at one point I was actually looking down at the eagle, then it gained altitude and flew away. Amazing bird. Oh, and the crows got the scraps and I had to finish cleaning out my garage.
