Ebay fraud.

Here's the final solution from ebay.

I was able to escalate the case to ebay. They reviewed my purchase and all the communication I had with the seller. They have found in my favor and issued me a refund. :)

Refund

Glad to hear you got the problem resolved. I haven't bought anything lately on Ebay, but before I got on a gun buying spree I bought a lot of Snap-On tools on Ebay, mostly complete wrench sets, no air tools (too iffy as to condition) . I found 2 3/4 drive torque wrenches priced reasonably, I figured into the price the cost to have them calibrated by Snap-On after purchase. One arrived with the latch for the adjustment knob broken, when I contacted the seller he offered a partial settlement which I agreed was fair. I sent the torque wrench in in the interim for calibration and replacement of the latch, when I got the tool back I found that the calibration fee covered all repairs so I was good, but I appreciated the seller's willingness to adjust the transaction. So overall I am happy with my experience on Ebay but I do scratch my head at some of the ads and descriptions.

I've had to file 2 complaints with eBay over the years. Both were settled quickly and in my favor.

It's interesting to read these EBay threads now and then.

I was a member since 1999 and did well, both as a buyer and seller, until they gave "all the power to the buyer". As a result, sellers could no longer leave negative feedback for deadbeat buyers. Also, a practice known as "Feedback Hostage" became quite common, whereby a buyer would have the seller's funds tied up for months by leaving unwarranted bad or no feedback unless a "partial rebate" was offered.

That's when I quit.

To the OP - sorry you were duped. And for the thread drift...

China - No Go!

I bought a $10 item shipped directly from China. It was defective. When I tried to get resolution, I received emails saying: "So sorry. Please do not leave negative feedback. Have a good day." I consider it "tuition". Lesson learned. I will not buy anything shipped directly from China. FWIW.

Dont buy anything fromLatvia either. They are worse than those scams coming from Africa.

I've had 100% good experiences on ebay (minus one) covering hundreds of purchases from all over the world. The one bad one I asked the seller how he could advertise a diecast airplane as new when it was obviously damaged. He told me to mind my own ****ing business. I reported him but that was the end of it.

It was an interesting change, but not all consuming. First, the feedback score is only for feedback left in the last year. So, if you wait, your feedback will go back to 100% if enough time has past.

The reason for the change is due to unscrupulous sellers. A seller would leave feedback based on the feedback the buyer left. So, if a buyer held up his end, paid quickly, and the seller was a dirt bag, the buyer would get a negative feedback even though they did their part.

Because I mostly buy on ebay, this doesn't affect me. When I do sell something, I have no concerns because I'm an honest seller. Yeah, the feedback system isn't perfect.

Now that ebay has been hacked, you can rest assured that all your personal information will be shared on the web.

Bonus!

I was an honest seller too. And my FB was 100%. But when a buyer received his item and said that "I know the accessory wasn't in the picture but this usually is included and unless you send me, say $15, I'll have to leave neg. I told him that even though it was not described or pictured and the action stated "as shown" I would come up with one and send it.

He replied that he would rather have the $15.

That, coupled with the mandatory return policy, the mandatory holding of funds until 21 days passed unless positive feedback was received, and the mandatory acceptance of Paypal was too much and I quit.

When I started on EBay, it was a global garage sale and everyone know the rules. ~ As is, where is ~ Just like any other garage sale.

Then the grownups moved in and ruined everything.;)
