Ever sell a S&W and regret it?

Me too. Like who hasn't? About 10 years ago I sold a buddy a LNIB 18-3 that shipped with magna type stocks and TT and TH. I really regretted it since I did it and I'd think about it every time I saw him. One day I ran across him at the LGS and decided I had nothing to lose. I told him that I always regretted selling it and to my amazement he said, "Well come get it!" I asked what he wanted for it and he said whatever I sold it for. I told him that I couldn't sleep at night if I didn't give him more. He said give me what you think. I tried to give him more and he insisted that I only give him 100.00 more. I went by his house tonight and he asked if I wanted the stainless one I sold him too. I had completely forgotten the other one. He said " look since you insisted on giving me more just take both of them!" I'm gonna make it right, but look what I got tonight. Good friend, good night!

You need to buy that guy at least 2 beers

I traded my 500 to a mate, 3wks ago for a 27-2 and some AR 15 stuff. I asked him yesterday if I could get it back ? He said no :D I'm not convinced yet and I hope to get it back within a year..... ( and I will) If I do I will never sell or trade a S&W again My 02:o

Two of them. A Ruger 7 1/2" three screw Super BlackHawk .44 Mag I got after getting out of the Navy in 1969 and a 25-9 4" I sold to a friend several years ago. When ever I ask him about it, he just grins and says 'it sure shoots good". The only reason I sold it is that I had, and still have a 625-7 Mountain Gun in the same .45 Colt caliber that will not go anywhere!

I regret selling my new colt government series 70 1911a1 in nickel. I was out of work and pressed for cash to start a business. I thought down the road I could replace it when things got better again but it was discontinued.
It's the only thing I regret ever selling that nickel was so Purdy.

Due to our silly gun laws and not being the holder of a collector's licence I always have to sell the one or another handgun. Normally I do not regret except of two of them:

M 10-9 4 inch pencil barrel

M 29-5 4 inch barrel

Oh yes, a 625 Mountain Gun, a model 60 new-in-box, a 66-1 2 1/2" barrel gem, a 19-3 4 incher... I try not to think about it too much.

That being said, all those sales went to good people that I've known for several years. Also, I've bought quite a few S&Ws that I'm sure the sellers wish THEY still had.

It's the way of the world. Gun karma. :)

Best wishes,

Roger aka Mr. Wonderful

I've sold a few and had second thoughts every time. Then I think - "what the H*** were you thinking" after selling my model 38 light weight. I'm currently looking to correct the error of my ways.

Years ago, I had a mint Model 14, six inch. It was the most accurate and fun to shoot Smith I ever owned. Like a silly fool, I traded it off for something else. I have regretted it ever since. I used to shoot hundreds of wad cutters thru that beautiful gun. It would shoot 2 inch or less groups of the bench at 25 yards, all day long. I was an idiot to get rid of it.

No seller's regret here, with a simple explanation ... haven't sold any gun I've ever bought. I do have some buyers remorse, though. As in, " I wish I'd bought that ... "

About 6 years ago I found a 98-99% 4" blued python for a good price after spending a year getting past my idea that they cost too much.4 weeks later at a tiny gun show,I found its mate,in nickel, with box and papers for $900.I didn't buy it...such a fool..

YES.................................

In my mind at the time I was "always trading up" LOL......... but looking back ....... in the days before I was really collecting/accumulating.......

a 2 1/2 inch 19-?, for something else, after I got 2 3" 66s; and
a 4505, too nice to shoot & too big to carry, for a 4566 for carrying; and
a 3" 586 ,too heavy/bulky for carrying, for a nice 4" 66- with stainless rear sight; and
a 4" 581, too nice to carry, for a anib 4" 19-3 to be a back-up to my 66-1 carry gun

come immediately to mind...LOL

Nope, never sold an S&W

In my family, S&W's are collected and handed down. Every S&W is an heirloom. Me and my brother and our sons have been given S&W's by our father that would make most men jealous. I have bought and given some to my sons. While I don't plan on selling any, I hope my kid and future grandkids continue to buy and hand down what they received.

I regret selling my 6" 19-4 nickel that was in excellent condition. Never fired it either. But at least it went to a good home to a member here.
