Over the years I've bought, sold, traded, given away a number of handguns, some of them S&W's. A couple that I wish I'd kept come to mind. The first 18-3 that I ever owned. The first 17-3 I ever owned. The first 28-2 that I ever owned. Nowadays I've been able to replace the 18 and 28. The 18-3 I now own was bought from an acquaintance who was reaching the end of his struggle w/ cancer, a struggle that took his life not to many months after I bought his revolver. That was in the summer of 2000. The 28-2 I now own came from my identical-twin brother (deceased). He had bought two from various officers in the sheriff's dept. where he served. We were at the range shooting a battery box full of .38's and .357's. It was a wonderful time, cocked the hammer so much I had to put tape on the ball of my thumb where it got sore. As we were packing up, he asked me which revolver I thought was the best. I told him and he told me to take it home. As to the 17, I'm still looking. One day I'll have enough nickles, dimes and quarters saved, someone will put a nice 17 up for sale here and I'll be able to replace that 17-3 I let get away... back in 1985. However I doubt I'll be able to replace the Safariland flap holster and belt. Oh well! C'est la vie.
