I bought this gun many years ago the gun store told me that it was a test gun that was rejected by NYPD. (They were looking for a replacement for the model 10 that wasn't shiny like the nickel ones. Shiny guns were a no-no in NYPD. I have been trying to verify this, but I cannot, but I do know it was shipped from Smith & Wesson in Blue. Any help would be appreciated.

SCSW 5th Edition says only 11 were made…no mention of a rejected NYPD gun.
