Father and son kill neighbor over a mattress

Early in my LE career, I was in a class on forensics. A noted pathologist stated that people tend to die the same way they live. During my career, I saw that prophecy fullfilled numerous times.

Jack

Oh, God. That means I'm going to die in the most boring way possible.
I wonder what that would be?

IMHO the only thing the father and son did wrong was use guns instead of grenades. Pulling the pins and letting the spoons flip on a couple of M76s would have been the perfect solution to the whole thing.

If brains were money and it cost a $1 to go around the world none of them could have got out of sight.

I read the publicly available media report. My opinion is the mattress was the trigger for the incident, not the item for which the confrontation occurred. No one will turn out to be a "winner" in the end.

From what I read the mattress was put in a dumpster, the shooters removed it several times. Finally when the deceased went to put it back in the shooters confronted the deceased with firearms, before any words exchanged. Deceased was given ball bat by a relative AFTER confronted by men with firearms. Note don't bring a bat to a gun fight.

All people lost in this tragedy, all culpable. But it is completely out of bounds to confront a neighbor with guns over trash. I sincerely hope they are convicted. I do not want them to be the poster boys for self defense, as it was not. No matter how loony the deceased was they instigated the confrontation.

According to NBC, an hour ago, both shooters have been rearrested, their bails raised to $250k each and are charged with 1st degree murder.

That's correct, once the judge saw the video.

From what I read in the paper today, the shooters were out to provoke him into a confrontation so they could shoot him.

They're sitting in jail.

As Don Imus used to say, "You can't make this stuff up." Watched the vid, half expecting it to wind up being a reality show bit. Wish it was. The shooters pushed all the right buttons to wind this guy up. No matter how big a body waste orifice the victim might've been, it wasn't up to the shooters to decide things.

If'n this one makes it to trial.......before a jury of their peers

Think about it for a short minute.

The mind boggles.

.

Would their peers all be sitting sweaty and shirtless in the jury box. Pointing pistols at each other because their jury notes encroached on each others "territory."

We had a lady here get psychotically upset (no attack) that her neighbor threw dog poo in a baggy in her trash out on the curb ready to be picked up instead of the neighbor's own trash. Evidently, some lives are so purposeless and petty that keeping score and reacting to meaningless events takes over? Maybe, I need body armor for walking the dog?

Good point.

Tomorrow is garbage day.

I'm going to check my garbage can for bags of dog poo.

I don't even have a dog, so it's important to check.
