Favorite Range Gun?

When the snow disappears and green shoots of grass start to sprout up all over
it is time to think about large case .22 bullets, to get after those little "Brown things"
that pop up out of their dens and run all over the place.

I never leave home without 1-200 rounds of center fire and a Block of .22's, on these outings.

I probably shoot my Gold Cup Trophy the most. I also have a 625 JM that gets a fair amount of use. I have a few Sigs and HK's that rarely get shot but I try to work them in from time to time. Lots of revolvers in my safe. Hard to choose.

It's just such a satisfying action, and so accurate. It's hard not to love throwing lead down range all day with it.

If I am at a range with steel plates out at 200yds and up, my favorite is my beater registered magnum. It's an absolute hoot to shoot at long range on steel targets with the thing.

What's your go to range gun for plinking, punching paper and putting lots of rounds down range?

My Model 25-2 with the 45 Colt Cylinder installed. It makes great big holes in the paper. Back when I was 27 and had great eyesight I shot about 18 shots at 25 yards. The center of the target fell out and fluttered down the range. I was pretty happy. I've had it since the mid 1980's and will never sell it.

I love to shoot my custom built K-32 and stainless K-327 and have everything (including primers) to reload for them, but since I buy 22s in bulk, the gun that goes to the range more than any other is my 1948 vintage K-22. It never fails to make me smile! :D

Hmmmmmm...

Overall I would have to say either my 16" heritage rough rider, or my .45-70 Henry.
My beretta m9a3 for 9mm(scorpion doesn't get out much nowadays with the brace ruling still being fought).
M&p40
Shield for 45
10/22 when I want to draw smiley faces on the target
Glock 35 for .357sig with some ppu blue box for fireballs.

I had a 686 (actually a few) 40 years ago and feeling nostalgic back in 2018 I bought a 686 Plus four inch. The last five years it has been my most fired handgun. In the past year I started shooting 357 Magnums (125 XTP) more often than my 38 Special plated 125 grainers.

Bench Rest, Remington Rangemaster #37
Combat revolver, Kimber 3" DAO
Target pistol, SIG P210
EDC, S&W 442-1 no lock. Shot the least, carried the most.

Hello everyone, if I would have to narrow it down, it would be these three that come to the range with me the most. 6 inch chiappa rhino, a 44 competition, and a 5 inch 625-6. Great too shoot and very accurate [emoji108]

My favorite is a Model 617-6 .22 cal. 4”. Ten shots and very accurate.
It is good economical training for my second favorite, another heavy K-Frame, a Model 67 .38 cal. 4”.

My favorite range gun is my Smith and Wesson 29-3 44 Magnum. I reload so I make milder rounds for it but on occasion I will shoot full Magnum Loads and watch as the others at the range stop shooting so they can watch the fireball as I fire.
My other favorite is my Glock 20 in 10mm, That thing is a tack driver.
I have a Smith and Wesson Model 19-3 that I just put back together after some much needed care as the original owner didn't take care of it but its a keeper.

To an outdoor range I always like to take a Marlin tube mag 22 rifle, and my dad's M27-2. It's a 6 1/2" and just as accurate and easy to shoot as anyone could want.

Inside - I don't like indoor range shooting much - It's always my EDC which is mostly a Bersa Thunder 380 Plus, and maybe a 22 revolver.

Depends what I'm in the mood to shoot on any particular day.

All my handguns are my favorites when I take them to the range. The one that gets taken to the ball the most is my original Colt Series 70 Gold Cup National Match.

Mine are
1) a 2” nickel square butt model 34-1. It shoots very well for a snub, and doesn’t suffer from tight chambers or loading extraction problems.

With my can, my S&W victory- so reliable and near bullseye match accurate. And cheaper than a ruger or browning
