Favorite Range Gun?

For me, it’s my 627 pro I had an additional cylinder machined to accept 9mm, giving me 2 options for my ASI games.

A very close second is my 617

Model 17. It is cheap to shoot, no recoil, and far more accurate than I am!

I concentrate mainly on my 4 1/4” 629 , absolutely love this revolver ,has SDM gold bead front sight and a set of chequered hogue hardwood stocks
Internals are factory stock but polished from thousands of rounds fired
My 4 1/4” 686 and 6” 617 are usually present as well
I would post a pic but I don’t know how lol
where do you find the URL of a photo after you take it ?

Most fun = 22's, big bores need some exercise too

Like said mostly 22's of different flavors and actions. Distance is to wherever the soda cans and plastic water bottles ended up in the farm field when we had "grenade toss drill" before unloading the guns from the truck. Most rapid fire fun? The Remington Nylon 66 hands down! Most wheel gun fun...the Model 17-3 always a winner no matter who's shooting.

When choosing guns at home, we can usually can hear the big bores whining from the safe "why can't we go...why don't you love us anymore..." so you can feel the pity and out come the 1943 Ithaca and the IHC M1 Garand (along with their much more expensive food).. distance for the 1911? 15 to 20 feet if one actually is interested in hitting a target. The M1? we start on paper at 100 yds...still a tack driver with GI (National Match) sights.

Any gun, any day at the range is always fun, fun, fun. You just can't beat the shooting sports (and accumulating) for hobbies.

My range bag guns are a S&W Model 65-5 in a Desantis #13 holster for 3" barrel K-Frames and a Russian IJ-70 In 9x18 Makarov in a Falco (made in Slovakia) shoulder holster for Makarov pistol. I'v shot thousands of rounds of .38 Special through the Model 65, both standard and +P. I rarely shoot .357 Magnum in the K-Frame gun. In the Makarov I shoot any kind of steel case Russian ammo as well as Sellier and Bellot brass case reloadables. I handload for both of these, but it is difficult to find the spent cases with the Makarov. I think the Russian pistol ejects them about halfway to the moon.

My favorites are a Ruger SRH 44 that is scary accurate, even with my ancient eyes and a CZ 512 22 mag that shoots anything you stuff into it pretty darned well. The target is from the CZ. BTW, it chronographs 40 gr Federal at a flat 2000 fps.

My k22 4in and 9422 or 22 single shot are regular range companions. As for center fires, it’s something in 32-20 rifle or revolvers. My sub2000 and high power make regular visits as well.
The targets are usually steel and charcoal briquettes at any distance.

I like all of mine, but I suppose my everyday favorites are my $50 Match Target Woodsman in .22LR, 2" Combat Masterpiece in .38 Special, and roundbutted 4.25" 25-2 in .45 Auto. I suppose my favorite 9 is my BHP MkII, and my favorite .44 Mag is my 3" double-Magnaported PC 629. I also have a special place in my heart for my H&R USRA pistol.

Until my 686 gets here right now it’s my match champion 357. Just an absolute joy to shoot. It’s practically flawless in all aspects.

1A S&W 6" 586 357 mag

1B Ruger S Redhawk 44 mag

1C S.A. 1911 45 ACP

I usually shoot at 25 yards from bench and 7 yards offhand. I stretch out to 40 yards on occasion. And I'll shoot the SRH with scope at 100 yards.

I enjoy mild plinking loads way more than the full power "BOOM"

rimfire

Again sticking with revolvers, I have a number of those. The Model 17-3 is a favorite. It is everything a double action target revolver should be. But then there is the Ruger Single Six with a cowboy holster and it is a hoot to shoot, Almost as nice as the 17. And to confuse things there are 2 Bearcats, Both Stainless, one with a 3 inch bbl and birdshead grips. I have not shot the birdshead yet so we can rule that out. The standard SS bearcat has a very nice trigger and is easy to take along. But as an over 70 year old recovering bullseye shooter. I will go with the m17
( I am attempting to post photos and it is fighting me. And it won. You know what a 6inch M 17 looks like :-)
