Took the 617 and 686 (both 6 shot pre lock) to the range today. Both shot one hole groups, double action off bag, at 15 yards. Both triggers are 8 pounds double action and 3 pounds single and smooth as butter (tuned by Nelson Ford, The Gunsmith, Phoenix). Gotta love quality revolvers.....when the groups open up i know it's ME. By far my favorite shooters. What are your favorites?????

I don't doubt that they'll do 1 ragged hole with those dots on them. You have good taste in revolvers, if I might add. My favorites would be a 686+ (3") and a 617 (4").

Have a 686 in 4" and been looking for a 617 4" for over a year. Found a few but second mortgage fell through......

625s all the way. X3

I own a pre lock 6" barrel 686 I bought new back in '94 and recently added a police trade in model 10-8 4" barrel & 642 as my new carry to replace my M&P 380. I would say of the 3 revolvers the 686 is my favorite. I use it mostly to knock down bowling pins at 20 yards here at the range & to carry in the woods hiking/camping or while hunting.

63-5 would have to be my favorite. The big guns are more about the challenge of shooting them well rather than fun and relaxation.

It would have to be my model 16-4, with a 4" barrel. It will shoot .32 H&R Magnums, but I usually use .32 S&W Long wadcutters.

The action is so sweet... the combat grips are super comfortable... and the "recoil", IF you can call it that is next-to-nothing.

It happens to be an attractive gun to boot. I always have to share it with others when at the range.

Best wishes everyone!

Currently my favorite range revolvers are my 4 and 6 inch 17-6s, 625-2 .45 Cal Model of 1988, and my 625-6 Mountain Gun, which also sees a lot of backpacking duty.

What are my favorites?? Hmmm, I can't say as I currently have a favorite.
It's usually the most recent purchase since that's the one that gets the most range time for a while. So, currently it's my newest 25-2 that shoots absolutely wonderful right on out to 25 yards with excellent accuracy.

Spur of the moment, my 1948 vintage K-22 gets the nod... grab the gun and a bulk box of ammo and I'm good for the afternoon. The list of "favorites" goes on and on, but what actually gets shot most (by this lazy old geezer) is the easiest to prepare for and clean up after.

Range favorite

I would have to say that it is a toss up between two King Targets. One is a pre-war heavy duty, and the other is a very scarce 1950 Military 44HE.

I got the 38/44 first and it will always have a slight edge as it led me down the path of King guns. The 44 is just extra cool because they only produced about 2100 total of this model (and 44 Special is just too cool on it's own  )

I'm not sure which is my favorite, but I am about to head to the range with 3 three of them. I'll try to make up my mind. No guarantees though. :-)

Have a blessed day,

Leon
