Feeling a little guilty today......NOT!

I don't understand the novelty of plastics, I know a guy locally who just recently traded his model 19 even up for a Glock 30, both are happy, I know I would want more money plus the 30...

Shouldn't a 50's combat masterpiece have a mat blue finish?

K288,989 – K317,822...1957 (manufacture). The closest on my list for which I have a lettered shipping date is K3036xx which shipped on 10/14/57. And indeed the unrelieved target stocks are too early for that date. But it really makes no difference, as the grips are very desirable. The majority of Combat Masterpieces left the factory with Magna service grips, as the CM's market was law enforcement, not target shooters. However, S&W would provide target stocks as an extra cost option, and they were also sold by S&W as aftermarket items.

In your pic the cyl seems to have a slightly plum color to it. Is it just
due to the lighting or does it look plum "in the flesh?"

Must be the lighting as there is no plum tint to the cylinder. It's the same blue as the rest of the gun.

The target grips may have been installed at the factory as a special order or by the dealer when it was sold. In either case the grips could have been laying around for some.

I would accept the grips as original.

Very good deal for you!!! I do not own a Glock, but have shot a few. Do have a 67 (stainless 15) I would much rather shoot it than a poly. Obviously you are happy, and the trader was happy! What more could you ask for? Bob

A Glock 19 is a GREAT pistol. Comparing these two guns is like apples & oranges. But, the simple truth is that you can go to a gun store tomorrow and buy another G19. Not so for the Combat Masterpiece.
