I have a friend who bought a 642 with IL. He did not like the IL, so he removed the entire lock mechanism and says he "filled the lock hole with "JB Weld." He says it looks good. I have not seen it.

I have heard of, but am not familiar with this product. Does anyone have any idea how this would work for the purpose used in this case?

On other type of repairs with this product I have used masking tape as a backer. I do not care for this product, it is a darker grey color. I requires a little scuffing of the surface to bond well. I would wait and see if it stays put, or fall out. There is a forum poster that has made a stainless plug to fill the hole.
