15-22 is my first rifle ....got it on saturday finally got a chance to try it out today. our indoor range is about 70 ft long this was shot from about 65 (if you go all the way to 70 target locks up and won't come back :))

i know it's nothing impressive but being a newb and shooting w/out a scope or red dot i guess it's decent.

btw let me add maybe it's user error or bad ammo but it jammed once and ......for lack of the better term failed to shoot about 5 times. it would feed but it wouldn't shoot, pulling the trigger wouldn't do the dang thing, i had to kick the round out and next one fed just fine as if nothing happened.

i was shooting Federal 22 Long Rifle 36 Grain Copper Plated Hollow PointFeatures:* 22 Long Rifle* Copper Plated HP* 36 GR* 125 ft lbs* 1260 fps*

the failure to fire was more than likely the ammo's fault not the weapon, next time it happens look at the bullet and see if has a strike on the primer. as for the jam it was probably because the magazine wasn't properly staggered. all in all not the end of the world. welcome to the madness my friend

Not bad for a first time out, not bad at all.
But your going to need a lot more ammo, cause getting better takes lots of practice.
Not to mention its a lot of fun. :)

At that range a low powered scope or red dot will help tighten the groups up.
But a scope is no substitute for proper breath and trigger control.
So never forget the basics and you'll only improve with time.

That's why I quit shooting the bulk federals had too many duds. I shoot federal 510's and never had a dud, and blazer's are good too!!!!! Happy shooting Good grouping ;)

thanks guys.....now if i could only decide on the scope i'd be one happy camper. i've been thru amazon.com so many times it's not even funny. had about 15 scopes in the cart i'm down to about 5 of them. read bunch of threads about scopes i guess it's more or less about personal preference.

I'm running a mkIII tactical ncstar its served me well the last 30,000 or so rds.. do youself a favor on shooting the 15-22, clean oit well and take back to the range with you about 200 rds of cci mini mags and let it run on it till everything breaks in then switch back to the feds.. when you said they would do nothing at all do you mean the hammer wasn't falling or it had primer strikes but no bang.. if you have strikes and no bang that's a dead rd and it happens with cheap ammo.. if the hammer wasn't falling at the pull of the trigger that's a different story all together

Sounds like good advice. My 15-22 was problematic at first. After about 500 rounds it has been smooth sailing. I shoot nothing but the Fed 525 or 550 packs (I'm cheap with the 22 as my .45 uses up my allowance quickly :D) I haven't had a problem with the Feds not firing when struck. Out of 2000 or so rounds I may have had two that had this happen.

the first 1,000 rounds thru mine was problematic because of ammo. I now know what it likes to feed on and it's smooth sailing. I had 3 FTF's last night out of 1,000 rounds using Remington's "target" round.
