Firefox auto updated my PC this A.M.. New layout and it's pretty different. Lost use of some add ons they won't support with new VER 57. One add on I use all the time was gone. I reverted back to VER 56 for now and turned off auto update. That is all, over and out.

How do you revert back? I don't like the new version either.
 
The constant updates are really annoying.

I used to use Firefox, but I've been using Chrome for a while now. I was reading about the new Firefox last night, and thought I'd give it a try...mistake. Took me a while to get my laptop straightened out again. I'm staying with Chrome.

It's under Help (top of screen) - Firefox help - Install and update - Install older version of Firefox. Be sure to turn off auto update or it will go to new version again.

BE CAREFUL
Reverting back Firefox worked for me but I have many Hard drive backups in case it failed.

 
ive been using firefox for a few years and have not notice any difference so far.....
 
Thanks guys. As mine had not updated yet I turned off "automatic updates". Other than the old add-on's not being supported, what is so bad about Ver. 57? hardcase60

I just installed the new version this AM on my other computer. Top tool bar is a little different as far as layout, but my bookmarks, history, etc. are seem to be the same. Main thing they claim is faster speed - still not too sure just HOW much faster......

This was a voluntary update. Now the WINDOWS ones drive me nuts, because they never tell you WHAT they are updating, what they are supposed to do, and it gets to the point where it will do it whether you want it or not.

I updated mine and it seems to work fine. And seems to be faster. It has ugly square tabs but that's not a big deal. And it moved some tool bar things around to look more like chrome. I had to reset some options.
 
I just got the Firefox update. It now seems much slower than it was, so I guess I won't like it going forward. I just upgraded Opera to be my new primary browser (it had been my backup secondary browser). It is far faster and has all the add-ons I need (including the Photobucket Fixer I mentioned earlier).

I'll periodically check on Firefox to see if anything changes. I hope it doesn't resent my demoting it. I have used it without problems for many years until today.
 
I tried disabling all my Firefox add-ons, and it didn't really help the sticky speed problem. I may try wiping Firefox and reloading it to see if that helps. I also have Chrome as a backup browser, but very seldom use it. After having a browser failure many years ago (I think it was IE), I learned the value of having a backup browser or two on my desktop.

As Opera seems to be doing the job just fine at present, I'll stay with it.

No automatic updates for me on anything. I'll wait for certain of the add-ons I use to become FF 57 friendly before I update.
 
Just updated mine today. Definitely faster than before.
Works well so far with no issues.
 
It seems to me that you can search the net for installers of previous (within reason) versions of Firefox if you want to go back a version or two. To a great extent, you can change the way Firefox looks by downloading & installing different themes. The same goes for the Thunderbird e-mail client.

I had a problem last night where FF just hung. It wouldn't do anything. I had three tabs open with nothing going on in two of them.
 
I have FF & got some sort of a down load last night. These things normally happen on Wednesday! To be honest I do not know what downloaded.

With my lack of computer skills, at this moment I see nothing different except it does appear to be a little faster!
 
I have reverted back to v54.0 and have auto updates turned off.

With new versions I had issues with my add ons and VPN.

Take a look at the tabs on top. Rounded corners is the old version, a rectangle block with sharp corners is the new version.

Thanks as of now I still have round. Like I said I'm not too computer literate and I do not know what down loaded last night. It could have been the computer company, my protection (AVG) or FF. Sometimes I get a pop up that says what downloaded sometimes not. Lets see what the future will bring!

My DIL is sharp and will be here for Thanksgiving I will let her look at it. (she is my go to computer person)
 
I knew that this version of FF was coming so I made certain that the add-ons I need would work with the new version before I updated it. So far so good. Chrome, on the other hand, crashed and I had to uninstall it. I'll stick with FF.
 
I dont know if I like it. When I go to the bookmarks, they are not all there. I have to go 2 more steps to get to some of them. I notice no change in speed but this is a 4 year old PC>
