First M17 Pistols at Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

We'are getting a bit off topic now, however, here is a video about Chinese service pistol...

Unknown Soldier Eternal Flame in communist Krakow Poland, 1983. Looks like they carry some sort of AK derivative.

No one is asking for my vote, but, it's a big NO!!
Sorry and no disrespect meant to the Unknowns resting there, or whoever selected this pistol, but, I'd stick with the 1911 many knew and used.

I just read of this in American Rifleman so revived the topic

Loaded weapons or unloaded weapons, I doubt anyone attacking the Tomb of the Unknowns would get the job done without some serious bleeding going on. The qualities of the soldiers, and levels of training and commitment required to serve as members of the Old Guard might appear to be focused on spit & polish and showmanship, but I doubt there is a soldier in the Old Guard who would not die at his post before surrendering.

Sig Sauer has contributed a meaningful tribute, worthy of the Unknowns and the soldiers who guard their rest.

Not to mention that many of the observers in the crowd would be in the middle of it as well.

When the Sgt is inspecting the rifle in the video he turns a screw on the top rear of the rifle. Is that screw an adjustment for the sight? If so why would he change the sight adjustment? or what else is it?

thanks. I was in the Air Force not Army.

The knob the Sgt turn is the elevation adjustment knob, he turn it up and back down to its original setting to ensure the rifle is properly maintained; kept clean and function as it should be.

Armies of the world insisted soldiers keep their rifles clean at all time, anyone who has gone thru basic training can attested to it.

thanks. It just seemed weird to me that they would take "sighted in" gun and move the sights.

Regardless of all the controversy, I took two guns to the range yesterday. Both my 66-2 and my new M-17 are great shooting guns. The 66-2 is way prettier and feels more familiar after years of shooting K-Frames. The M-17 has a 21 round capacity and a Deltapoint red dot on it. It’s easier to shoot at longer distances. If I needed a tool for armed patrol, the ugly tan gun is a better choice by far. On the other hand, I will have only one of them. I enjoy many K-Frames.
