First post: SW 5906 v. SW9VE???

I have the disease, my Uncle left me a 38 DA top break, it led me to 4 Victory's and 3 38/200's, a 1917, M28 M18 K-22 and about a dozen more.
I have a model 39 and then bought a Sigma SW9VE and like it, I like revolvers and their trigger pull

But I just found a Police Turn in 5906, I wish I knew the Department, but they didn't know. anyhow, the grip is a bit worn but the rest looks nice, I am going to take it to the range this weekend.
They wanted $369 at Four Seasons, I offered $325 and they took it. I probably should have offered lower, but thought $325 was fair.

Strange coincidence. My new 5906 is also a police trade-in (Detroit). Grip is definitely worn, but the rest of the gun looks new. Price: $325.

I wonder if The Royal Canadian Mounties still carry the 5906. Truth be told...my S&W M639 is the best all around pistol I've ever owned, that is flawless operation and accuracy. But the SW 40VE has replaced it as my carry gun. Impossible to group as well with my Sigma, it's accurate enough to defend yourself and yours. It's just so much easier to carry than the 639.

I had a brief affair with two Sigmas. Left me feeling hollow and used. I dumped both of them and went back to my stainless 3rd gens. They just feel better in my hand and I shoot them better too.

I thought of a way to justify keeping them both! (I'm good at stuff like this.) OK, the one to keep, whether as an investment, because it's arguably a "more better" fighting handgun, or some other reason, is obviously the 5906.

I mean, has anyone said the Sigma is better?

OK, so you're keeping the 5906. Then the issue becomes what you could realize out of the Sigma. Couple hundred bucks? In my neck of the woods, you'd have to do some shrewd trading to get much out of a used Sigma. And the amount you'd get, you're doubtless better off just keeping it. Sure, you can probably always replace the Sigma, but you'll lose money on the deal.

So keep the 5906, and then keep the Sigma too. (Win-win!)

Of course, it's your call, and whichever way you go, you'll still have a good S&W 9mm around, and that's a good thing.
