Fliers & Large Groups

Wolverine, based on your note, the M&P has an issue, you have gone above and beyond what most shooters would have tried, my hat off to you. Call S&W, get an RMA and send that baby back in with a sheet of your target with the type of rounds, distant and temp & time of day. Your breach may be oversized or to long, something is just not right. Never seen that on a rifle, but I am new to this M&P 22LR, most of my work is on 5.56 and 308 and a couple of Marlin 22 WMR bolt rifles.

Please update us with the results, I'm very interested in the outcome of your situation.. Hey, maybe this is S&W's M&P 15/22/12gauge shotgun conversion prototype... OK, not funny, sorry..

One of my guys was shooting an AR15 with a long forward guard on a bi-pod, he was complaining that his AR was not accurate (non-floating barrel). I asked him to setup and shoot for me while I watched. He did, I noticed he didn't place his weak hand under the rear stock, but instead he rested it on the forward guard applying pressure to the barrel. That was enough to make his grouping spread 1/2 to 1" MOA.. I had him place his weak hand under the stock and do 5 shot string again, he couldn't believe the improvement (it took a couple of tries, re-learning)..

Just a follow up on the original posting here---

I finally got tired screwing with it and wasting ammo so I called S&W tec support to send it in for repair.

Their exact words to me were "they don't guarantee accuracy" but did send me a return shipper.

I guess we'll see if they will do anything about the scatter gun grouping.

Will post a follow up when I get it back.

Good to hear S&W is taking it back. Don't be discouraged.

A first level customer service representative will always make non-committal statements about the state of a firearm in the possession of the end-user. A firearms technician has to examine it before the company issues an official diagnosis.

I look forward to hearing the outcome of your issues, and wish you the best in resolving it.

Yeah hope it works out cause it sounds like you are really not digging the 15-22, but if it's shooting that badly I can see why. Wish everyone had mine. I've had absolutely zero problems with mine and I am well over 50K rounds.

Wolverine It sounds like its the gun, I noticed on mine if I dont grip this rifle the same way I sighted it in at, its all over the place till I finally settle in. I notice this more for me on guns with scopes on them then iron sights!! Ill be more hyped up when shooting threw a scope, concerned about breathing and grip tightnes and so on. Funny Im more relaxed when shotin iron sights and I belive I have more fun as well!! I do know while shooting a scope regardless of cal. the same rule aplies lets say at the range I sighted in on a bad day gripin the gun like a gorilla and not pulin on the exhale and such and go out a week later and am relaxed I might be shootin 1'' high and to the right sometimes scope shootin can be that way its the nature of us verses the optics and all the other pysical elements that come into play when you zero in. I know for myself if I know on a good day im dead on,and the next im all over or my group is tight just off I try not to get all bent. My dad who I learned all my reloadin and gun skills told me dont worry about were there going on the paper just shoot for the best groups you can always move them so if a have a bad day and am shootin high and to the right but you can cover the group with a pea Im happy. If your doing all of the above and still cant settle a group in regardless were it is on paper then yah the guns got some issues if youve done all you can do and it still wont settle in you might have some type of mechanical issue with the gun. Hope it turns out for the better when you get her back Eric
