For us SLIDE FIRE MP15-22 owners...

Considering the BATFE considers a Shoe String as a Machine Gun, I would never think about purchasing anything like this, UNLESS it came with a BATFE Letter stating it was "ok" (Like the Slide Fire).

I guess I'm just extra cautious like that... Horizontal Stripes make me look fat! (It's not the fat that makes me look fat!) :D

All the potential problems out this product for a .22LR, You need a reality check dude.

"Atkins" is a diet...the word you are all looking for is "Akins"...no "t".

I brought up the slide-fire issue in another forum and the 100% consensus was....With the current price of ammo why would you want to go through it that fast? A few people tried it but removed it shortly after realizing what it was costing them.

Mine works fine as is :)

This is a neat idea, but I don't think I'd buy one. The 15-22 on the slidefire moves so little, I don't need it. I use my Grip-pod in bi-pod form and it works just fine in "Slidefire mode". It is great, I've been able to dial it in to all 25 rds inside a paper plate at about 50 yards. The Grip-pod moves back and forth enough to give it plenty of motion to work the SF.

I can see where it's a real gray area with this recoil rail in conjunction with the SF, and AM NOT SUGGESTING OR IMPLYING IT IS LEGAL, so cannot say or suggest that it is legal, but in my eyes, they're two completely separate accessories of the gun and wouldn't make it a machine gun in any way. It's not aiding the SF in it's operation. It's just reducing felt recoil, so don't see how it would make it illegal. Again, I'm not suggesting to anybody that they should be safe based on my observation, it's just how I see it.

I do it because it's fun. I get plenty of ammo at decent prices so I allow myself the fun of wasting some of it. I also have a Slidefire on one of my AR's that's really fun. :D

I don't deny it would be fun to do on occasion but it reminds me of people in the Middle East celebrating something by firing their AK-47's in the air. Wonder where they buy their ammo from? Do they shop online?

Fun To Shoot...

New member, my first post...
I bought my M&P 15-22 a couple of months ago. It was lightly used and came with the Slide Fire kit installed. Takes a little to get used to, but once you figure out how to grip it and work with the slide action, it is a makes for a fun afternoon of high speed plinking. I found that M-22 works best with it, nothing with a standard velocity or less than 40 grains cycles with any reliability.

Outrageous fun :) My testing suggests that speed is the critical variable. Slow, 60gr 22lr will not run at all. Anything 1200+ seems good to go. Rem Golden Bullets run almost as well as CCI Mini-Mags. CCI MM are the best which is why I have accumulated about 4000 rnds of this type ammo.

Mine likes the CCI MM too, just hard to come by at any kind of a reasonable price. 4000 rnds... spread the wealth my friend!

I just purchased another 1000 rnds of 40gr CCI MM on gunbroker. I want what I want and will pay for it :)

I have more money than sense :)

Get a job. :D

But seriously, some of us shoot a LOT so 4000 rounds is not all that much. I purchased 8000 rounds of CCI Standard Velocity on gunbroker last month. Not like I took it all because back then there were cases & cases of the stuff up for sale. Sure I paid a little more, maybe .10 to .11, but I got exactly what I wanted & in the amount I needed. This buying boxes of 100 or even 500 at a time is for the birds.

But then again, I have more money than sense too. However as I stated elsewhere, I don't drink, smoke, gamble or golf. So since I shoot 500 rounds per week on average, that is still only $50 dollars or so. I'm sure smokers & drinkers spend more than that and my addiction keeps me at home (have my own range) and keeps me mentally healthy.
