Frustrated with USPS

So I bought a 28-2 on Gunbroker little over 2 weeks ago. It shipped out last week on the 4th. Should be 2 day priority expected delivery on the 6th. Only USPS never updated the tracking after 6 PM on the 4th. So it being 5 days since anything updated on their tracking I called up USPS this morning and they didn't have any information. The guy I talked to really couldn't care less about my issue you could hear it in his voice he did trouble himself with starting an investigation and told me it could take up to 72 hours. So now i'm stuck twiddling my thumbs. Has anyone else experienced this with USPS? I have ordered a number of guns online but have never had them get delayed like this. The package was insured but i'm still worried its disappeared and ill be out the cost of the gun which would make me a bit more then frustrated.

Yes. Ill have to leave it at that too.I dont feel like taking a several day unpiad vacation from here.

I find the most arrogant unhelpful people there. Two Billion loss in three months and this kind of customer service? It just needs to go away. I have worked customer service jobs a large part of my life and I can tell you I would have been fired instantly for everyday occurrences there. Sure I have meet some really great people behind the counter but sadly that has been an exception.
Good luck I hope it works out OK.

Not only the above in losses but--now last I heard, they want to raise postal rates twice this year.

I have always received excellent service with reasonable costs from the USPS and the employees at our local post office are friendly and helpful....

You wouldnt say that if you had to deal with the inept people who work at the one im sitting across the street from here in Corpus. They are on Port and Horne streets--and are the worst PO in the County. This is why when I need to mail off a package--I bite the bullet and go to the main post office several miles away. The people there--are great to deal with and never had any probs at all.

I wonder if a personal visit to the postmaster with your information would do any good.............

Depends on the postmaster. The one we had before the guy we have now--didnt like having to mix it up with peons. The one now--is one eighty different.

Most people don't know that under our present administration, the USPS has had one half of it's distribution centers closed.
They were going to give the postal workers a five day work week with Saturdays off (no delivery) which most workers wanted. Instead they closed half of the distribution centers causing packages to be routed longer distances. If the storm knocked them out for a few days, that could be a factor too.
Personally I ship several guns a week via USPS and can't say a bad word about them but then again I am on a rural route.

A few weeks ago, they announced the Dist Center here in Corpus is also going to close. This one is in the same building as the main post office is. there goes another couple hundred local jobs thank you blake farenthold.

I recently had a package stop updating on the USPO website. Worried both me and the sender. Then it just....arrived. Still no update on tracking site. The package was beat to smithereens, but the contents were ok.

About eighteen years ago--my German Army Mauser sniper rifle was sent from Houston to Corpus.I had one delivery notice but only one. They were supposed toleave it at the Aptcomplex office as prior arrangements had been made. I recieved that one notice onmy door--BUT-the notice said:"Delivery impossible as they could not findmy addressIIIIIIIII."

I worked out of town in those days--so couldnt be around much. Anyway, I had to take off work the next day--drove to the main UPS place-getting there just before closing. \

I stood in line--and after about an hour--got to one at the counter and gave them my one notice--the one that claimed they couldnt findmy addy. The guy looked on the computer and said it was already on a truck that wa about toleave--so it would be shipped back to dealer. Well,I askedif it had left--he said no--the truck was gassing up.I askedif i could still get me package?and he hummed and hawwed and went out and get the guy toget it. It had been one of the last items placed in the truck so no prob.

I almost blew a gasket when I saw the demaged package. The entire rifle butt--was outside the box thanks to a huge hole somehow placed there. Luckily the wood was not damaged at all. Everyone else who was sanding in line--freaked out at the site of a rifle. Anyway, I ripped open the package and took possession of my favorite and still in the collection--firearm. An ordeal ended well.

So? Let's see now...the postal service has been around for over a couple of centuries now. That's over 200 years, by the way. Tell us other consumer products and/or services that have only raised their prices by about fifty cents over the same period of time. Zip on down to the grocery store and ask them to sell you a loaf of bread for what it cost back in 1910 maybe. Or give your doctor a couple of bucks for your next visit, see how well that goes over.

Better yet, compare U.S. postage rates to those of other countries. You're getting a bargain here.

Or take your Christmas card to grandma, put it in an envelope, and ask UPS or FedEx to deliver it to her out in Lost Snowshoe, Alaska for less than the price of a large candy bar. Don't get your feelings hurt when they laugh you out of the building.

USPS Priority Mail is an advertising gimmick and nothing more.

On Saturday, February 28, I sent payment for two firearms to a dealer in Illinois via 3-day Priority Mail, at a cost of $5.75. The projected delivery date was Tuesday, February 24. When I checked the tracking, I found that my envelope didn't even leave Maryland until Monday afternoon, February 23. The payment was finally delivered on Thursday, February 26...five days after I mailed it.

Hold on a second here. Am I reading this right? These dates don't seem to make sense. You mailed it on February 28, and it was scheduled to be delivered on February 24...four days before you even mailed it? Then you discover it didn't even leave Maryland until February 23, and wasn't delivered until February 26...both of those dates being before you say you mailed it?

I wonder if the postal service has secretly hired Stephen Hawking, and are using his ideas on physics and string theory to manipulate the space-time continuum in order to process mail? That's some gimmick! If so, my compliments to the postal service for delivering your mail before you even mailed it, although I'm not sure the world is ready for time travel yet.

I used to have great, fast service from USPS, but in the last 3 or 4 months I've experienced the same frustrating results as O/P.
Website doesn't update so you can't tell what's going on with your delivery. Something has changed there to suddenly go from pretty good to horrible. I have a friend that has had the exact same experience.
The website gives you an "expected delivery date" and you package arrives a week later. And there's no one to complain to that can do anything.
I hope they go out of business.

I'm going through this right now.. I ordered a complete slide from lone wolf distribution 2 day priority and I'm having same issue with USPS, except I haven't been able to get a hold of anyone, only an automated message center. I'm trying to have patience, but I'm getting aggravated.

I was able to get in touch with someone by calling there 800 number found under there contact us page. I don't know if contacting them helped or not in my situation. I do have an update there tracking finally updated this evening. Its now in Cincinnati. Started in Spokane and it took them 4 extra days. Hopefully it will go out for delivery tomorrow and Ill finally get to enjoy it. But it is good to know that its not lost. Seeing some other stories though makes me worry about condition hopefully the box wasn't roughed up to much and was packaged well.

Update: I finally received the drop :). Took 5 extra days, but I got it, so I'm happy! Patience is key as long as you're not in desperation.
