While I was tinkering with my fake grenade launcher/storage build, I got to thinking on what kind of games you could play with a rimfire. Nothing too serious or too competitive, just something fun and doesn't take a lot to set up. I know with shotguns we play a game called poker/chips, where you have shooters lined up in the stands numbered one through whatever. Shooter one says pull, and tries to bust a clay, if he misses it shooter two can try and shoot it and knock him out of the game. If shooter 1 hits the clay, but shooter 2 hits a break of the clay, then shooter on is out, but if shooter two misses the break and the pieces land on the ground shooter 1 is safe and can continue playing. And it goes on until the line is between the two shooters. Does anybody have any games they do on the range? The chips helps with marksmanship and follow through

.22 rimfire pistols and rifles are permitted at our club steel challenge matches.
How fast can you HIT 5 steel plates? OK, try it again...

I saw some "Battleship" targets the other night at Academy. My son and I are going to get some. The ships are set out like the game, and there is a one inch circle in each spot where the peg would go. Hit the circle and it counts as a hit on the ship. Hit every circle and the ship is sunk.

Cool anybody try anything with bowling bins or something like a domino type thing?

Bowling pin matches are common and popular. Now dominoes would be a real challenge, especially at 25 yards!

Golf balls are another popular target - chase them down range.

Tennis ball races.

Take dead tennis balls and place them a reasonable safe distance down range. Establish an agreed to "finish line".

First shooter to drive their ball across the finish line wins.

Can have almost unlimited number of "players".

Variations such as unlimited rapid fire, taking "turns", or most distance per specific number of rounds/mags, and so on.

Once a year one of the clubs I belong to, shoots an egg match! Different divisions , the rimfire division is 100 yards you shoot at real eggs on a wire cradle, you take 10 rounds and you have to break 5 eggs. You can shoot sighters but all rounds count, so if it takes all 10 rounds to break 5 eggs then thats you score 5X 10shots. you shoot 3 times for a total of 15 eggs and a possible ammo expenditure of 30 rounds the guy with the most eggs with the fewest shots wins. Then we do it as teams but you don't get to pick your partner all names are put into a can and then you draw for a partner! Last year they gave away 3 10/22 Rugers. and there were about 60 shooters! cost to enter 15.00. Lots of fun, free lunch on the club and plenty of shooting.
I think an even bigger challenge would be paintballs sitting on a golf tee @ 100 yards!

While in academy sports in chattanooga, (there is a hail storm, tornado warnings and sighting, and flood warning in affect until tomorrow. So there is nothing to do but read old threads :) me and my dad found these.

So we bought them. Didn't know anything about them and it was an impulse buy. Seems pretty cool we will see how it holds

We used to play all manner of games with our .22s at my local clubs fun matches. We shoot golf balls, charcoal briquets, paint balls, and eggs at 50 yards, busting clay birds and shooting shotgun hulls at 100yds. We have also played a games where pounded a bunch of 1x2s into the ground and the first one to cut his in half won. Then there is always multiple targets at varying ranges from 25 to 100 yards.

I've been into card games lately at our indoor range (50 feet.)

Here I try to slip a .22 slug cleanly through a hole punch hole in a playing card. (Haven't succeeded yet. :))

Here I split the Ace with an M&P15-22 with only my second shot. I packed up and went home afterward figuring I would never do any better. So far I've been right. :)

I seem to recall watching the movie s.w.a.t. and seeing them playing a game of cards with thier rifles. Anybody remember what exactly they were doing?

Wow that's some amazing card shooting! I shot a quarter today from about 30 yards on the first shot, but that's nothing compared to splitting a card lol

I've seen tic tac toe games where you shoot the symbol you want. That battleship one sounds like fun!
