I was at a gun show today and a vendor had what he called a compact 45. He wanted 1200 with 4 mags.

I am unfamiliar with this model and value. Internet searches just kept returning M&P 45.

Can anyone tell me about ths model or link me to some info ?

Thanks

I can think of seven different model numbers that qualify as 3rd gen compact 45s. Any idea what the model number was? Without that it's hard to say although with a $1200 price tag I'm inclined to think Performance Center guns ie. Shorty45 or 45Recon.

Cheers

I just called my buddy tat was with me. He said it was a shorty 45.

I think i'm on the right track. Performance center 4513. 1200.00 is a bit out of my comfort zone without some research.

$1200 for a PC Shorty 45 - with 4 mags is a good deal. Especially if it is in like new condition with the original box.

I have a Shorty 45 MKII. I also have or have had examples of every makers 45 pistol including some Colt custom shop, HK, Springfield, Kimber, Wilson Combat, Nighthawk......et al.

You get the idea. Anyways, the Shorty 45 is THE most accurate 45 pistol I have ever shot. Most accurate handgun I have ever owned. And unlike a lot of those high end 1911s and other 45s I have owned and shot, the Shorty 45 is reliable as death and taxes.

Not one single malfunction in many thousands of rounds. Yes, thousands of rounds - not hundreds.

Mine is currently at a local gunsmith getting new sights installed. Frame wear after all those rounds is minimal. BUT - I keep my rails greased and I regularly change out the dual recoil springs. On aluminum framed big bore pistols, regular preventive maintanance is critical to a long service life.

So, I advise you to buy it, shoot it, love it. In the unlikely event you dont like it, you will likely easily recoup your investment. And probably do it right on this boards classifieds section. Good luck with your decision! Hope this helps. Regards 18DAI

Hey Duke...

Did it look like this one?
PC4513 aka Shorty45 mk2, An utterly superior firearm in all respects, superbly accurate. I see $1200 with 4 mags as a fair asking price, one does not see those pop up for sale very often.

Yes, looked like that except it had aftermarket wood grips installed. it was in a plastic box. how can one differentiate between a PC and a regular 4513 ?

guy was a old timer and seemed straight up but you never know.

I am really interested in adding this to my collection.

The pic HCH put in post #5 is a regular 4513. Note the difference in the slide contour.

The PC4513 aka Shorty45 will have a Briley spherical bushing supporting the muzzle end of the barrel. You should also see the "Performance Center" seal on the right side of the frame just above and slightly aft of the trigger pin. Right side slide flat at the muzzle should be laser etched "Shorty45" or "Shorty45 mk2". The Shorty should have fixed 3 dot Novak sights whereas the mk2 variant will have an LPS Adjustable backsight. Black plastic box with a gold tone PC sticker on the lid would be correct. Wood grips are not correct, guns originally came with factory xenoy grips as shown on mine. Laser etching on the barrel hood should read.....

45 ACP
PERFORMANCE

Act quickly those things are pretty highly sought after.

Cheers

Thank you for taking the time to provide the great info. It is exactly what i needed. I need to find a book to help me work through the seemingly endless variants of this generation.

Look at the muzzle. And right side of slide.
