Giving up on the Shield *UPDATED*

It looks as though I may have lucked out after all! I'll know by tomorrow afternoon. Thanks everyone for the help, I should have done this a while ago!

I went to the store where I had paid in full for a Shield 6 months ago and they returned the full amount without any issues at all. The Bullet Trap in Plano, Tx may have failed to find me the firearm that I wanted but they did the right thing when I asked for a refund. I will likely remain a customer.

Tomorrow I'll meet up with another Forum member to purchase a NIB 9mm Shield! If all goes well and I have no reason to think that it won't, I'll be a very happy camper tomorrow afternoon.

So far my experience here at the Smith and Wesson forum has been excellent.

I have been on the Buds LEO list for several months now to buy one at LEO pricing. No email as of yet :( and I will wait patiently :(

That's good to know! :)

I have also, and I'm afraid we have about 10,000 others just like us!

I waited 14 months for a M&P22 on a LEO list, then the company went belly up. I found one a few months later.

The wait for a popular gun can be a long one on the LEO list. But the $335 price and the fact that I don't have a shortage of fine handguns makes the wait bearable.

Well I just went to check my Buds LE account and for some reason the Shield9 was no longer on my wishlist. Not sure if I cleared it or it got dumped. I purchased a M&P9 in June 2012 and I believe the Shields went on their website shortly after that (maybe a month or two later).

You might want to confirm its still on the wishlist to get that IMPORTANT email when they do come in stock!!!!!

I am in no hurry and will wait it out. Kinda bored with my CS9D but going to keep it until a Shield is in my hands and then will do a comparison and likely keep just one.....maybe :P

Meh... just buy something else. The Shield will be available another day. If S&W can't get off of their rear and produce enough, then they lose money. That's it.

As for me, I went with an LC9 because I can pocket it. I cannot do so with the Shield. The Shield's superior trigger, recoil absorbing system, and sexy looks mean NOTHING to me if I can't just throw it in a pocket holster and walk out the door. A gun on my person is far more important than yet another at home.

If I want something I have to put on my belt, then I may as well go with a gun slightly bigger that has much more capacity. Maybe an M&P 9c, a Ruger SR9c, or a Glock 26.

That was my reasoning, anyway.

Less than 48 hours after I posted my woes about waiting 6 months for a Shield, I have one sitting right in front of me!:D

Thank you to everyone for the leads and advice, it paid off more quickly than I would have hoped. I hope that in the future I can assist someone here as you all have done for me.

Wow..I got mine when it first came out. Crazy there is this much interest. I was thinking of trading mine in for an XDS.

After waiting for a Shield since April, I finally gave up and bought a similar (9 mm, slim, small, etc.) personal defense pistol by another manufacturer (which will remain nameless). I took it to the range to begin putting the usual 200 rds to break in and on the first round, the gun went "click". The next day, I took it back to the dealer, who offered to send it back to the manufacturer. While I was filling out the return form, I asked whether he had gotten any Shields in the last two days. Keep in mind that I had been calling this dealer and five other major dealers in the central Virginia area at least once a week since June. The dealer said he had just gotten one in and brought it over to me. I immediately told him I'd take it and asked what he would give me for the lemon I bought a few days earlier. In five minutes we closed the deal and in another 20 minutes the paper work was done.

Yes, Virginia. There is a Santa Claus. Keep the faith!

I was on the Glocktalk forum's classifieds. They have a .40 nib and a 9mm used with 100 rounds thru it for sale.

Just thought ya'll would like to know. They are in Florida.
Later,
Joe
