I bet s&w had a sigh of relief when the news was confirmed....at least for now. Glock **** the bed on this one. Thoughts?

For me, I'm glad I don't have to spend more money on another gun. I know if it was a 9 I would have to get one and try it out.

I'm not a fan of 380. I know many here are, but it just doesn't do anything for me.

I like Glocks and Sigs, in general, but I have more S&Ws than anything else.

Like you, I think this one is a bust.

I'm sure it will sell fine, but not to me. I keep thinking about a .380, but not much point for me adding one that's nearly the size of the Shield or the XDS, or other single stack 9mms. I'm sure it will sell, if only because of pent up demand for a .380 Glock. Not sure it will be the kind of "where oh where can I get one" sensation that the Shield was early on.

Disappointment no 9 mm lil glock ! Off the thread main topic. Anyone know if ?
Believe the XDS 45 & 9mm had firing pin/striker, bushing breaking problems ? Did a recall fix them ?
I have a 32 acp and with its super accuracy at short range an 8 round mag. I'm happy over a 380's capacity.

If I won the lottery I would buy a PPK for nostalgia. No, if I bought a PPK I'd buy a .32 Same with a Colt 1908, rather have the .32. I guess I would buy one of the Colt Mustangs in .380. Can't think of any other I would want.

Still, if mom were still alive and wanted a defensive handgun though, the new Glock would be a viable choice for someone who needed a minimal recoil, small gripped handgun. Those of us who think it is fun to shot magnums and think nothing of running 300 rounds of 9mm or .45acp through a compact gun in a day forget those for whom that would be impossible. I see this as a gun for those people that when you look at them, you can see the bones in their hands. Each his own.

Just sayin'.... GLOCK model 40. We know what the G41 (.380) and the G42 (.45) are. They are all over the internut. But nothing on the G40. And GLOCK has historically numbered their products sequentially.
Could GLOCK be holding out on us for SHOT show?

Springfield had a total recall on all XDs (45 and 9mm) produced. This was around the end of August, 2013. The recall/safety notice stated there was a very minimal chance of this occurring. They have fixed the issue that could cause the gun to fire when the opened slide was released on a chambered round, without the trigger being pulled. The recall was also for the condition that two rounds could be fired on a single pull of the trigger.

Internet consensus, for whatever that is worth, is that Glock will skip the G40 to avoid confusion from non-gun people over the model number versus the .40 S&W chambering. I personally have no idea.

I have a Bersa Thunder .380 that I keep in my pocket sometimes but the ammo is hard to find and 9mm is cheaper. I have a couple of Glocks but not interested in this little Glock.

The more I look at the cost of .380 the more I want to sell the wife's .380. $23 for 50 rounds of WWB at walmart. For another $4 I can get 100 rounds of 9mm.

New #42.....

What about that guy who shoots all those videos? Hits the Kong! Who likes the M&P but .........cannot stray off campus of all of the other numbered guns #17,18,19,20........
Just having fun here.! He has really helped alot of folks with firearms today.
I bet he is filming right now with a demo model right now.!!!
With skateboard tape already installed on it. Custom fitted.

Man, I haven't seen a 100 pack of WWB at Wally World in over a year!

My walmart has about 20 of them right now. Plus around 20 boxes of Tulammo brassmax and around 20 boxes of PPU. It's been like this for the last 2 months. They have been getting everything but .22 on a regular basis. Last week they had Federal 50 and 100 round boxes.

Well I personally think that it will be a hit! Most woman don't like a sub compact 9mm because it can be a bit snappy. I didn't like the ruger LCP because of the grip and the trigger was heavy and unfriendly. The sig and colts are very expensive. This might be just the ticket in size for accuracy and conceal in a very manageable round round with a decent price tag. I have one pre ordered and can't wait to get hold of it!

I don't mind the .380....but only 6+1 when Smith can put 6+1 of .40 in pretty much the same size gun?

Who would want a pocket pistol round, with pocket pistol capacity....in a non-pocket pistol size...???

That is the fail as far as I'm concerned.

I'm not a 380 fan, but if this new Glock works, it will only provide competition for the other 380s on the market. There may be a few who will dump their subcompact 9s for the new Glock, but most of the folks carrying the little bitty nines do so because they don't have any use for the 380 either.

While it's too early to tell how well it will do, I'd bet S&W's attention is on Remington's R51 right now.

I think Glock will sell a boat load of the G42s. Typical Glock trigger will be far easier to shoot well than the S&W Bodyguard 380 or the new M&P Bodyguard 380, which both have loooooonnnnnnng and comparatively heavy trigger pulls.

That said, as Ken Hackathorn said when SIG introduced its carbon copy of the Colt Mustang Pocketlite, the Glock 42 is "the perfect pistol for someone who doesn't really need a pistol."

There is no reason that pistol could not have been made in 9mm and Glock should have done so.
