Hello everyone,
Let me give you some background. I started with XD's in the 2000s I did not really have any Structure back then just another guy who shoots 4-5 times a year.
Five years ago I hooked up with a group who met at a range. At closing time the owner locked the front door and 10-15 of us went in the back and did different drills each week. I bought a Sig 320 and shot with that for about 4 months. Then I tried a Glock G45 ( full size grip with a 4" barrel and a Holosun) and I shot better than I did with the other platforms. A buddy had a G23 ( compact .40 w Holosun ) for sale so I added that to my collection. I shot that pistol well also.
So I added a G26 (3" barrel )subcompact to the safe as well. The G26 comes with a 10 round mag ( your pinky finger does not come in compact with the grip).
You can use a Glock 12 round mag and a Glock 15 round mag using an XGrip. Nice set of options for a subcompact.
There is one problem, I shoot the G26 like **** ( iron sights). The iron sights are not the problem.
I found out when I had XD's and I added a 1911 to the stable that I should stick with the same trigger ( striker fire).
So tell me about M&Ps! I wonder if this is a contender to replace the G26. I may want to put an optic on it? A 9mm or a .40 ( probably 9mm). What would you suggest? I don't have a working knowledge of the M&P, Is mag options, Trigger feel , after market trigger ect. With the is with the With the XD The only way you can get it worked on as to send it in, With the glock you could buy all kinds of parts, But with Modifications you jeopardize reliability.1000003247.jpg

Glocks, IMO, are known for a few things, positive and negative.
Reliable overall, number 1.
Availability of parts/aftermarket, number 2.

Again, IMO…nobody ever says…that Glock sure has a nice trigger. Nobody.
Their egos are personal taste. I can’t stand them. Others are just used to them…and prefer them.
Opinion.

I’ve never been a fan of baby glocks. My XXL sized paws simply can’t.
M&P triggers are better, IMO, in every aspect.
I like the way the M&P points, shoots, and mine have been very, very reliable over the years. From my previous .40 and 9 in c, to my current Comp Carry 2.0 and Shield Plus Comp 2.0.
There are several aftermarket trigger companies for them.
Apex is probably the most used. I’m a fan of the stuff Overwatch is putting out for them.

Whenever I’ve needed parts, S&W has been great to deal with. I’ve never had to call Glock for anything.
I’ve owned a couple glocks…newest was a Gen 4 19.
Just never jived with it…although it went bang, predictably, every single time no matter what ammo I sent down range.
Best thing I can tell you to do…go rent one and see for yourself.
Pistols are like cars/trucks. Your purpose, your taste, your price range/budget.

I would find out why you don’t shoot the G26 well. Have someone else shoot it too.

They’re both polymer frame guns. Neither are known for having great triggers. Grip angle is different. The M&P fits the hand better.

But I would not rely on someone else’s opinion. Go to a range and rent some guns. Find out for yourself.

I have the Shield Plus Carry Comp. My opinion is it doens't need an aftermarket trigger, and I come from DA/SA. I carry with the 13 round mag. It is smaller than a duty pistol, my larger hands have trouble getting a good grip with my offhand so I grip around my wrist with my offhand.

I have many Glocks. I have one MP. Just got it. I like it. I need to shoot it more. 100 rounds so far. Now the trigger on my MP 9 2.0 is terrible. I got Glocks with not great triggers. Fact. I have factory G45 and G17 g3 & G17 g5 that have really good factory triggers. A lot better than my one sample of the MP9. I think the MP is a great design and going to be a great pistol for me. Liking it over a Glock is subjective. To each their own. I own Glocks for basically two reasons. It goes bang every time I pull the trigger. After thousands of rounds. Not one stoppage. Two is cost. I keep my
Glocks factory. I believe the MP is going to be just as good. Whether or not it unseats the Glock , time will tell. I hate my MP trigger. It’s bad. Gravely and gritty. I have lubed and cleaned twice. It’s the design. Old curved style in mine. It’s not a 10 pound compliant trigger either. Wardawg

I have an M&P 4 inch 10 mm that I bought about three years ago and it has the best trigger of any striker fire pistol Ive shot and I own two Sig 365s. It’s better than any Glock that I’ve ever shot, but it has the straight trigger plus maybe I just got lucky.

10 years ago decided to jump into the 4" 9mm semiauto striker fired HG world previously all my
Semi-A/HGs were 45acp, but my boys wanted to start shooting and 9mm is a whole lot cheaper to reload than 45acp.

Went to a local chain gun store also has a awesome SOTA indoor range and rents HGs to shoot. Thankfully they had every 9mm HG I was interested in buying available to rent. To that point I was 98% sure I was going to buy a CZ P10c as it was getting absolutely off the planet great reviews. So I rented it and shot it. Couldn't finish a mag the CZp10c's hinged trigger was pinching my trigger finger so badly. Actually asked if they had a second P10c I could shoot they did but had the same trigger finger pinch. Then tried the 4" FN, then the VP9, then the 4.25" M&P then the G19 nothing was exactly giving me that OMG feeling. Then tried the 3.9" P320 and put all all 18 rounds into a <3" group at 15 yards with iron sights and was sold on the P320.

My point being if at all humanly possible shoot a HG before you buy it. I had handled a P10c A lot at several LHGS and loved the way it fit my hand but thank the good Lord I was bale to shoot one first before buying. Relying on other peoples opinions on how great or not great a HG feels is not really the best policy. I have a friend who owns more Glocks than the Austrian Army but the Glock grip angle is absolutely not for me, absolutely zero doubt Glock is a great ultra reliable gun I just do not at all like it's grip angle. He has an ultra customized G17 even I can shoot <3" five shot groups at 25 yards, but I just can not grow to like the grip angle.

So if you can shoot before you buy.

I have never been a trigger snob. I guess that I am not sophisticated enough to tell the difference. Most of my training is gross rather than fine. I carried the Glock 17 and 27 as backup. Fine guns but I had issues with the larger magazine fitting into the smaller. The mag would cant forward and the rounds would stop on the bottom of the feed ramp. When S&W came out with the M&Ps I immediately go one. Then I got the compact for my BUG. I have never looked back. My off duty is a CSX. Many complaints here and else where about the trigger. Love mine. My have has a Shield Plus. She loves hers but it has a very stiff recoil spring. I love it also and would have no issues carrying it.

It all boils down to preference. If you like it you like it, if you don't then you don't. I have said this before, I am a Ford truck owner and happy to be so. Maybe you like a Chevy/GM. For the most part they all do the same thing. Would I recommend an M&P compact or any other size for that matter, yes. If I were selling guns in a gun shop I would have you heft several different makers. If I could rent them at a gun range then I would definitely recommend you try before you buy. I think the M&P is worth every penny.
