Navy week here in New Orleans, our soon to be adopted little girl was totally into being aboard the USS WASP (LHD-1). There are several other pics of our time aboard which also include my boy, but these three fit the thread title the best.

I can imagine the teacher's reaction if she takes those pics to school for show and tell. Acebow
LOL... this being Louisiana and far enough outside of New Orleans the reaction might be different than most would think. Even so, I'd probably not allow her to take them to school just in case. ;)

I remember taking my sons to "open house" events like that on Parris Island. Myself, I have a vague memory of sitting in a Huey playing with the controls at some National Guard display at the fair in the late 1970s.

One of my sons still constantly sketches soldiers, tanks, planes etc. This being Wyoming, no one is bothered by it.

Thanks y'all. She is not only into guns, now she's into the military, Navy in particular. When she seen a young female Naval Officer she was incredulous. She exclaimed; "wait... girls can be sailors too?" When I told her that girls certainly can be sailors she decided to ask LTJG Stewart if she could take a photo with her and she graciously granted her request. After talking with LTJG Stewart she has declared that she wants to be a "Sailor Officer"... LOL. As bossy as she can be already that seems like a perfect fit. :D

Congratulations. My wife and I adopted our boy at 7 weeks old. He's 16 now. I've never regretted a minute of it. Good luck with your new daughter she will bring you much joy.

Just to be fair to the guys shown with the guns, they appear to be Marines, not sailors. Marines generally take the same umbrage with being called a sailor as being called a soldier.
