Goodbye Glocks!

My 2012 M&P 9 FS does not hold a candle to my Glock 19's in the accuracy department.

Here is a 36 foot shot group with the M&P standing unsupported - sustained rate of fire onto a 7" paper plate. My stock Glocks will clover leaf center mass everytime at the same distance at the same rate of fire.

The ergo is superior on the M&P and it's a very soft shooter...I just wish it shot (accuracy) as good as it feels.

i don't really care for Glock pistols, they are good and shoot fine but i just do not like the grip, if S&W would make an M&P in 10mm i'd never own another glock until then i will keep the 20sf. i have the M&P 45 compact and it is ok but i miss the M&P9 and M&P 357 sig.

I started out with a Glock as my first centerfire pistol. It was an early Gen 2 G17. I sold it and went through various other pistols, starting with a tenth anniversary M9 package, back to a G19. I sold that and was exclusively into long guns for a while. I bought an OD G17 and still have it. Parts and mags are easy to find relative to everything except a 1911.

I found myself with my some extra money bought an M&P9 several years ago. I got mine from Bud's for right at $400 including the transfer fee. I put a few rounds through it and then put it back in the box where it sat until earlier this year when I took both the G17 and the M&P9 to compare them... I discovered that I could shoot the M&P better than the Glock.

I've had it on my hip or in my hands since then, except when the old Melonited striker broke and I got one of the new ones.

I'm not getting rid of the Glock because it's a good pistol and it's one of the OD models. That and I no longer sell guns. I always lose money and I sometimes regret selling them later...

I just bought my first M&P pistol (Shield) for the compact size and thin profile. After one trip to the range I'll say it is a nice pistol, it shoots accuately, and it functioned 100% (review in this forum).

Nice gun, but I doubt I'll be selling any of my GLOCKS over it. I guess I'm one of the "odd-balls" who likes the feel of a GLOCK grip.

To each his own I guess.

Bought my 9mm Shield because it is a single stack 9mm and wanted something to replace my Ruger LC9 as my EDC. And because Glock does not offer a single stack 9.

I never considered an M&P prior to the purchase of my Shield. Only S&W pistolas I owned prior to my Shield purchase is a M686, M642 and M41.

My G23 Gen2 and G17 Gen4 are my only Glocks at present and they are more to my liking than the M&P pistolas in their respective sizes...

Well said

I have been carring Glocks on duty for over 15 years. I've been to Glock shooting school and armorers school and POST Firearms Instructors school all on my department.

I don't like them never have. I just bought the M&P 45 without the thumb safety. (I work part time in a gun store...they get all of my money and I wonder why they hired me??? lol.)

I took her out sighted her in and enjoyed a 100 rounds of pure joy. IT IS my new carry gun..and we do our quals this next week....perfect!

I have to say it is so superior to a Glock in all ways. I have heard comments about the trigger sucking...I like it but I have shot revolvers on duty (Years ago 1985.) at my first department.

Then the Glock craze arrived...

Here's a shot of mine.

Congrats

I am with you. I bought a 9 mm shield which I like, but would never sell my Gen 4 19 and 26. They are accurate and reliable and will go bang if I need to protect my family. The grip on the Gen 4's fits me. There will be more Glocks in my future and an M & P if they get the trigger of the Shield with the Glock like reset.
Bottom line, I like both!

The Market will never go away for Glock Pistols, but I bought my last Glock. I have a M&P9 and a M&P22 and plan to buy an M&P 40 and maybe a M&P45.

Luckily thanks to everything I felt and read I never bought a Glock. I never liked the way they feel, to blocky and wide. I never sell a gun, I don't want to regret it later. I love the way my M&P9 fs feels and shoots.

Congrats on your new find!

When I started working near the Mexican border in drug cartel land I went shopping for a new handgun cause let's face it, a Tec9 won't fit in a holster!
First gun I picked up was a Glock and I could not get used to the grip not to mention I couldn't stand looking at it, tried a few others but once I picked up the M&P40 I knew that was it for me and after an Apex kit I absolutely love this gun!!

Having owned a Glock22 gen 3 and EDC a Glock26 gen 3 I bought a new Glock19 gen 4 last month. Owned 25 days, put about 250 rounds through it, and dry fired it over 400 times. Today it went bye, bye. I was tired of the erratic ejection, and disappointed that Glock did not slim the grip even with the addition of the 2 additional back straps.

In its place I bought a new S&W M&P9 range kit, and only lost $50.00 on the deal. Basically I rented the Glock for 25 days at $2.00 a day. After getting home with the M&P I cleaned it, dry fired it about 50 times, and went the range and put 150 trouble free round through it. It is very accurate, and a pleasure to shoot. I shot it both strong hand and weak hand, and it felt great

Although the trigger reset is non existent compared to the Glock, I found it functional. Trigger pull felt better overall, and I found the gun actually surprising me when it went off, rather then anticipating it.

The range kit is sweet. 3 mags, double mag holder, and holster. Also included is the a Maglula UpLULA magazine loader. After using it, not sure how I have lived without one.

I am now in search of a M&P9c to replace my G26. I may even add a Shield to the mix sooner or later.

Goodbye Glocks !

I have never cared for polymer guns of any kind.
However , I felt i had to have one, so I bought a 9MM Pro
Until I put a Apex comp kit in it I really did not like the trigger.
Now that I have , its much better.
i also put their "RAM" kit in it it stands for "reset something"
I believe you former Glock guys would really like it as you can really feel the reset now.

Don't get me wrong...if my MP9 FS would group like my 19's, I'd love it. I'm shooting center mass, but the spread is unsat. The trigger hasn't been an issue for me as I shoot from reset. I've only missed it once when I first got it, but I have it timed with no further issues. The break is clean and crisp...a little heavier than my Glocks, again not a big deal unless you have poor fundamentals. Just wish the POI was consistent with POA. I have yet to figure out where some of these crazy flyers come from. Someone posted in another thread that he noticed his barrel crown had a lot of chatter, and subsequently smoothed it out with good results. The MP9 drives like a cadillac, very soft, very comfortable...just wish it drove in a straight line out of the box. The 36 foot unsupported group I posted earlier is probably satisfactory for a defensive weapon, but when your consistently clover leafing with a Glock (with inferior ergonomics and similar trigger - stock) under the same conditions...something's not right...and it's not the shooter. FYI. I have six Glock 19's (2xGen4, 4xGen3) and they are all consistently accurate as described above.
